Found this for $49 at Potomac, it's an effing steal at that price. Super smooth and more mellow than i usually go for, but walks a great middle line between sweet and salt. There's a touch of chocolate in there, the flavors are balanced all the way through, with an even mix of sweet and heat all the way thru. This is a definitely 2015 fave.

So smooth! Almost too smooth considering the price, ill keep my taketsuru 21 but really good. Second try I liked it more, something really subtle and composed going on in there. Do NOT add ice, this is a very delicate whiskey. I need a bottle to fully evaluate, each try has been so "special" that I feel the expectation is clouding the experience

Balvenie Golden Cask 14 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 4, 2015 (edited April 24, 2018)Heat. This is a tough one. Buuuuurn. Lag 16 plz. -
This is great, really traditional bourbon flavor. This ones hot all the way for me, very little sweetness on the back end, I get a big hit of cinnamon (but more like cinnamon gum than the actual spice) right after the swallow then a low and slow burn for quite awhile. This was a blind bottle purchase b/c it's so damn overpriced at bars (in NYC this is often a $20 pour. yeah, i'll stick to my Lag 16 at that price range thanks very much), no regrets here!

Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 28, 2015 (edited December 3, 2015)Super smooth, something fresh and almost piney about the middle and finish combined with a dose of almost holiday-ish spice. Really nice sipper but not worth overpaying for.
