Nose : some signature dill pickle, grassy notes maybe a hint a oak Palate: it’s got a good amount of mint to it, tastes fairly young my guess is under 4yrs or right at that if, a little bit of rye spice and that grassy note again. The finish is long and minty as well Overall I’d give this one about a 81 it’s pretty young but well done. Sometimes a youthful rye hits the best notes. Although for the price point I’d rather have James e pepper rye or the James e pepper cask strength for a fraction of the price.

So I’ve been drinking but I’ll keep it short and sweet ! So the nose is sweet got some caramel and a hint of oak The palate: oak is present immediately with tons of caramel and butterscotch !honestly it’s surprisingly good and smooth! I know smooth isn’t a word to describe something however this is such a caramel and butterscotch bomb it’s anything but harsh ! Finish: sweet as hell and amazingly butterscotch that hugs you the whole way If price isn’t included this is a very rare 92!!!!! I can name on one hand the bourbons that hit the 90’s

I’m a big fan of this one lots of orange and citrus through the nose but still has that rye spice I love and is the 80proof jammed up volume and taste wise to about an8! The finish is long spicy and desirable with hints of vanilla citrus that linger through! For $23 I can complain and I’d readily available it’d be a coin flip on whether I’d choose this or OGD 114 honestly ! What the 114 brings it lacks in what the BIB offers! I’d advise ppl to try both and make a decision for ones self first

Honestly if tasting this and basil Hayden’s blind I hardly tell a difference and at 12.99-14.99 a 750 I always choose this! Yeah maybe the basil Hayden’s is “aged longer” however I’m yet to believe it since basil isn’t age stated and in blind tastings the two haven’t been picked apart correctly more than half the time. What can I say it’s 80 proof and I hold 80 proof stuff in low regard taste wise but this atleast has some flavor

I’ll keep this short and sweet on this review! Nose: corn,nutmeg and flu stone vitamins Palate: corn up front ,some creaminess, and a hint of spice . Almost a nutmeg spice. Finish: is more of the same but pleasant 82/100 For the price it’s a solid pour that is slept on for whatever reason! Makes a nice decanter whiskey

This review is on the NAS version . But I’ve had my fair share of 9yr age stated ones before. Any who let’s begin... Nose: so it’s a little less deep in the nose as to the age stated as it smells more corn forward a little less oak and lighter all around, I do get hints ofalmost a cinnamon and orange slice vibe going on. Not too bad. Taste:corn again, spice that has hints of that cinnamon and orange zest vibe going on. It’s got a decent mouthfeel not too thin about just right as 100proofers are my sweet spot. Nice oak char coming through that lightly reminds me of charcoal grilling with my dad as a kid. The finish is nice still get that almost old fashioned but a bourbon vibe the whole way . You can tell it’s a corn heavy mashbill as its defining characteristics are short and sweet and lack complexity . Overall I’d give this probably a 78-80 range it’s affordable and I’ll never complain if someone brings it over. However if I have the chance I will always scoop the Single barrel especially store picks over this everyday! It’s not bad it’s not great it’s middle of the road and that’s fine! Things I like more in the same price range:early times BIB, Wild Turkey 101, OGD BiB and OGD114 Things I like less: Jim beam black, old forester signature 100proof, Evan Williams bottled in bond Note: bottle sampled was a pint

Floral nose upon first smell not really picking up any rum funk as of now. Upon sipped the flavor profile is full of spice,clover, hints of leather and gentle oak. However the finish is where the rum presence makes itself known it’s got a gentle sweetness at first and has a long Spicy finish that has that old rum funk to it at the end. OverAll it’s not a bad pour and a solid $26 spent

So I payed $150 for two bottles of this when a friend got back from japan which is considerably below the gift shop price of around $125 each. That being said I don’t judge taste by price so let’s get into it shall we. Nose: lots of oak like tons, cherry cola(I’ve noticed in older heaven hill products ), slight peanuts and strangely I got some apples. Taste: oak and oak again! Kind of reminds me of some of the older age stated Elijah Craig 12year stuff . But with a hint more proof. Finish is long and slow with that oakey profile again. Overall I’d say nothing incredibly stands out but I’d put it above most of the stuff out. If given the chance while at duty free pick it up. However at the gift shop prices pass on it. 88/100

Solid notes of cherry cola and oak, much like the barrel proof just much more tamed down. Even slight hints of root beer on the nose if you search hard enough. Oak,char , and vanilla clash for a bold flavor while sipped with a long finish that is almost like a cherry tobacco. That hugs the tongue the whole way through. For the price it’s an amazing daily drinker that nobody should get upset being offered

It’s pretty solid, a little acidic at first but settles with some air and time. Solid taste profile not my favorite but not by far means bad a solid buy for just a little more than $30
