Decent, average bourbon. I expected more from them given their collection but the ratings are correct

Is this syrup? Tastes good but ridiculously sweet

    It’s good but I don’t love it

Not my favorite of the El Jolgorio range but glad I tried it. This one is mostly savory with a herbal and slightly funky character. No discernible fruitiness. 92

Beautifully sweet - there are lots of fruity esters in here which makes it taste like candy. There is smoke and umami towards the finish so you get a good balance of everything. 95
  6. Compass Box No Name

So this essentially Ardbeg dominated blend is supposed to be better than any of the readily available Ardbeg releases, yeah? Well, let me tell you it’s not. It’s more of an Ardbeg for bourbon drinkers with the sweetness taking over and the peat only really coming in at the finish. I get why it’s good, it’s a good blend, but in my opinion Compass Box is like Johnnie Walker with nice labels. It’s more about style than substance. Of course they’re blending good whiskies so it tastes good, but those whiskies didn’t need to be blended in the first place. 92
  7. Ardbeg Corryvreckan

Peated Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

This is like the Ten on steroids. The 57% take some getting used to but once you get past that you are rewarded with one of the most complex bourbon finished whiskies there are. It’s sweet, it’s rich, it’s peaty and it’s balanced. 93
  8. Ardbeg Uigeadail

Peated Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

This one packs a punch so I usually need to warm up to it with something lighter but once I’m ready it’s absolutely fantastic. A fine balance between peat, fruit and richness. 93
  9. Ardbeg Ardbog

I love the play on words with the bog and indeed it gets showcased with a bit of muskiness. Otherwise, the classic fantastic richness and fruitiness of Ardbeg is there and the 52% is barely noticeable. 95
  10. Whip Saw Rye

Rye with a Pinot finish? Sign me up! It has the typical sweetness but the spiciness but its somewhat subdued thanks to the added berry aromas. A great finish to this collection, I like this more than the Whistlepig Old World! 94
