Smoke Wagon Small Batch Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed April 2, 2021 (edited April 23, 2021)Nice. Very nice. The uncut unfiltered is better but this is pretty damn good. High rye. Spicy. Nice. -
I am not a gin drinker - but there is so much hype out there about Monkey 47 that I figured what the heck, let me buy a bottle. YIKES! Trust me - you have never tasted anything like this - EVER. The only word I can think of to describe it is - BEAUTIFUL. Please - don't mix it - don't put in a drop of vermouth.... no ice..... AS IS... WOW!

If you're wearing a hat - hold on to it! these days, most whiskey finishes sit for 3-months.. Redbreast Lustau, after maturing in bourbon and sherry casks for 9 to 12 years - is finished for (grab that hat!) an entire 12-months in first-filled sherry butts seasoned with the finest Oloroso sherry.... that's NINE MONTHS longer than every other distiller! the result? Paradise in a pour.... PS: funny thing is, I don't like sweet whiskeys.... but this is something special.

didn't expect much when I bought this bottle... figured it would be one of the bottles I keep handy not for it's complex beauty (Ardbeg 10, Redbreast Lustau, Russell Reserve) but for those nights when I decide a four to five fingers pour and a Guinness Extra Stout might just be enough to keep me pickled but certainly not drunk (high tolerance).. and I guess it still is one of those 'pickled' bottles - BUT it might just be the best one I have... what surprised me the most was the smokiness of this whiskey.... at 40-bucks a pop, it's worth a shot.... 46% no water needed.

I have no tasting notes. What one palate picks up another palate picks up something else. No one or nothing is the same. That’s what makes horse races. But I’ll tell you this much Laga8 is one hell of a scotch and as time and bottles go by, I’m starting to prefer it over the 16. EDIT: 16-months later. The 8 is great but the 16 is still the champ
