Chivas Regal Strathisla 12 Year Distillery Collection
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 16, 2019 (edited December 1, 2022)Very pleasant floral notes such as Chinese violey, Sherry dry fruit notes and very welcoming sugary note. And if you let it sit for couple of mins, lemon zest started to come out and play. Very smooth all around on your palate not a single notes over and on top of each other. They just go in all together. I do find dry grape shows up only a little bit on the palate. Towards in the end a little bit of dry bitterness left ready for another sip. -
Teeling Single Malt Irish Whiskey
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed November 16, 2019 (edited April 9, 2020)Very hard to grasp anything specific notes in here on the nose, it's got also much going on that your brain and your nose are trying to figure out what's what. But overall in general you will get bourbon sugary notes right at your front door, a tiny bit of sherry dry fruit there but not much, light and sweet floral notes, and also only appears once for me on the nose is a rust or ancient smell. Most likely from one of the wine cask. On the base on all this is sort of an American Oak wood spicy notes surrounds all. On the palate is equal complex with so much going on and with a little time to examine each profile, because you will get hit by same flavour profile very similar to Glenfarclas 105 cask strength but it has additional bit of dry fruit, orange skin. So sugary, spicy, bitter, tiny tiny bit of sourness to finish the sip. I say you either like it or hate it. -
As the expert state that sherry dominant whisky. You get all the sherry note + heat right in the front. Not sure why it taste more like 46% rather than 40%. The finish is weird for me somehow I can taste peat. If lagavulin 16 is 100 then this is like 1 or 2 on peat. I would recommend this to whom want to get an understand or try to distinguish what sherry profile is. Once you taste this you can pick up any sherry notes on whisky.

This is for people who likes to drink cigar, smoke and iodine then you are in the right place. I personally would never recommend this to new comers, it will shattered their dreams as it nearly did to me. I believe that you will only started to appreciate lagavulin 16 once you taste many varieties of whisky, learn whisky history, read books and you will find more different notes beyond smoky peaty in this whisky, myself included.

Kavalan Classic Single Malt
Single Malt — Taiwan
Reviewed October 17, 2019 (edited January 12, 2020)You get more bourbon sugary notes than sherry notes in there on the nose also with a little hint of beautiful floral smell. On the palate it's all very gentle sugary with now much stronger sherry dry fruit hit you like a wave. Then suddenly a jet boat full of lemon zest and wood spicy notes swish across the middle, and drop 1 or 2 of peaches on the way. You will finish with a bit of dry wood bitterness like a black tea lingers in your mouth. -
Very sweet vanilla, honey and candy as your main course and wood's lignins an tannins as you sides. There is also a very light flower sprinkle on your plate. Once you start your meal, you will find that your sides are actually bigger than you thought and your main course has reduced its size on its own. After the meal, you left with American Oak's dry, bitterness and a little drop of vanilla. Good bourbon, good selection when going out with friends just to have a good time. But personally I find it just a little too simple for my taste.
