Nikka From the Barrel has a dark copper appearance, light-to-medium body, and nice alcohol legs. The aroma is slightly smoky and with some char and bourbon scents (corn, mostly, but possibly vanilla). The flavor was of a smoked bourbon, and the stronger proof was noticeable, but not harsh. The finish was on the quick side. RJT60.0 USD per Bottle

Black Velvet has a gold appearance, with loose alcohol legs. Aroma is of some sourdough bagel, musty cornbread, and charred oak. Taste is of charred oak, with wood emphasized over char, corn distillate filler, and a touch of nectar. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Black Velvet has a medium to slow finish. George Dickel TABASCO Brand Barrel Finish
Flavored Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed June 17, 2018 (edited June 22, 2018)Odd candy sweetness, with low profile Tabasco pepper spice, which builds, as one sips. Light-to-medium mouth, and a lingering sweet-candy-spice-whiskey finish. Later, at night, I was getting a Tabasco puree burn, in my esophagus. Very strange item, but not terrible. RJT -
Forty Creek Copper Pot Reserve
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed June 14, 2018 (edited October 17, 2020)Forty Creek Copper Pot has a copper appearance. The aroma is very sweet and candy like. I picked up cream, caramel, and butterscotch. There is a mild alcohol burn. Taste is nutty, woody, with a light char. There is more caramel, in the flavor, but not so much butterscotch. There is a moderately long finish. RJT -
Cutty Sark has a very pale , champagne appearance, with strong alcohol legs, however. The aroma is of a quite low profile earthy, smoky peat. Taste is similarly mellow. Some might call it bland, but I think it must take extreme skill to blend these light ones, without presenting any off or off-kilter notes. Mouthfeel is light, and finish is relatively quick. RJT

Buchanan's De Luxe 12-Year has a deep golden, clear appearance, with noticeable & noble alcohol legs. The aroma is mild, yet pungent, with wax, peat smoke, a citrus peel. There is, perhaps, also an almond oil aspect. The flavor is of smoky, waxy, peat; orange pith, mild chocolate, barley bread, and a spicy finish. Mouthfeel is medium, and Buchanan's De Luxe 12-Year finishes with a slow, but not sloppy, fade. RJT
