Bulleit Bourbon Barrel Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 24, 2020 (edited June 15, 2020)Smell: ethanol of course, with a strong oak smell masking the relatively subtle hints of black pepper, old leather, vanilla, and a bit of maple. Tastes similar, very strong flavor, yet pretty drinkable. There’s a slight nuttiness to the flavor. It’s pretty much common straight bourbon flavors with higher rye content, but done well so that you can drink this easily enough for 127 proof. Overall, it’s got very bold flavors, but nice and drinkable, nothing too out of the ordinary on the flavor profile.46.0 USD per BottleBaton Rouge -
Smells initially like ethanol and acetone. Fairly strongly, too much for just 40% ABV. Eventually you’ll catch some vanilla. Taste is much more subtle, mostly vanilla flavors, a little maraschino cherry. Maybe a slight spice. But it’s one of those whiskys that don’t have much flavor. Somehow this was $50 per bottle at the time and location of purchase, should never be more than $25.

Solid, smells like oak and maple, somewhat smoky, and your standard toffee and caramel. Tastes mostly how it smells, only getting a subtle maple and vanilla taste on this bottle, much less than that of TX whiskey, also less sweet. Also getting the taste of leather. The overall flavor is quite strong, and sharp. Others seemed to get much more of a maple flavor than I got, which is disappointing because I really liked that dessert-whiskey type quality I’ve had before in some blended whiskeys. I will say this is perhaps about as much maple and vanilla as you’ll get in a bourbon, so it’s something of a middle ground if you don’t want whiskey that sweet.55.0 USD per BottleBaton Rouge

Not as strong juniper as Seagrams dry gin, more subtle flavors while managing not to taste like vodka whatsoever. Seems like it would be a great gin for mixing as it wouldn’t make your drink taste like a carbonated pine tree. Long, sharp aftertaste. Somehow slightly spicy. Very minor earl grey tea flavor.35.0 USD per BottleBaton Rouge
