Tastes

Boring, thin, has a bit of a chemical taste that my girlfriend described as a crayon flavor. That said, I don’t think it’s that bad and it’s probably better than it’s current 1.8/5 rating. It just doesn’t has much going well for it beyond the name and bottle design.

Not particularly volatile, the smell is somewhat floral with caramel notes. Taste and mouthfeel is very thin. Flavor is mild and short-lived. You get a little brown sugar and oak but no interesting flavors to speak of. That said, it does seem fairly sweet. All in all, for under $30, it’s a suitable option for mixing.

Apples, apricots, vanilla, and oak. It’s definitely light and a bit fruity; flavor is quick and clean but with some spice. Not a lot of ethanol. It’s unique, and pretty good I think. 86 is a good proof for it, it has some heat but is mostly light and pleasant. Also I love that they list the mash bill on the bottle.

Moderate ethanol on the nose, along with table sugar, oak, cherries. Also kind of smells like dry erase markers lol Pleasant flavor; cherries, raisins, and oak. Sharp, lingering aftertaste. All in all, it’s good but I’m not sure it’s worth $70. I think you’d be better off with with basil hayden’s dark rye or angel’s envy.

Just a good, straightforward bourbon. Not quite worth the price though.

Cherries and maple on the nose, followed a bit of ethanol, oak, and vanilla. Taste is more woody, but still fairly sweet. All around it’s a great bourbon, not as heavy on the port as Basil Hayden’s dark rye.

Smells like caramel, cherries, maple, and vanilla. Taste is similar, but with more oaky flavors and spice. It’s fairly sweet.

Moderate ethanol on the nose, followed by maraschino cherries and vanilla. Flavor makes me think it’s higher barley, and it has a bit of a chemical taste, but it’s a bit sweet and has a cherry and oak finish. Decent, but not worth the price in my opinion.

Great for the price. It’s sweet for a rye, with unusually strong fruit flavor. It’s has the typically spice of rye but with the flavor of raisins and honey. Very drinkable, smell is mild.
