GlenDronach Revival 15 Year (2009-2015)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 15, 2016 (edited August 3, 2017)The nose is very sweet and full of sherry. There is also chocolate with orange and a hint of something leathery. The palate is silky and sweet, definite sherry that turns to smoke. Long lovely finish, starts with smoke and pepper and then segues into a lovely red fruit finish. Very nice whisky, overpowered a bit by a peppery taste. Addendum: Been drinking this whisky for a while now, the peppery taste has vanished, It is just a lovely whisky. Sad we may not see the likes of it agian. Luckily, I hoarded a few bottles away. -
Absolutely fantastic. Excuse my exuberance. The nose is iodine, seaweed and the sea. It is also fruity and sweet, with just a hint of lemon. The palate is a bit oily and salty. The smoke and pepper follow and fill every bit of your mouth. There is an underlying sense of vanilla. The long lovely after taste is as if you came upon a smothered fire at the beach. You can just see the wisps of smoke rising and swirling around one another. You half expect your woolly jumper will smell of smoke.

The Deveron 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 1, 2016 (edited June 19, 2018)Very nice everyday sipper, especially for the price. Evenly balanced whisky, nothing overpowers. The nose is green apples, honey and a hint of coconut. On the palate there is toffee apples, some honey, with a bit of oak. The finish was disappointingly short but not bad, definite white pepper taste. -
The first hit on the nose was a surprising chocolate that quickly disappeared. This was followed by all the lovely smells I remember from the Scottish shore, salt sea spray, seaweed and even wet sand. Just brought back lovely memories of living in Scotland. Finally the peat and smoke came in to remind me I was drinking an Islay malt. All the time there were sweet undertones of vanilla. On the tongue the saltiness is there from start to finish, a lovely taste of the sea. There is tobacco, peat and smoke. I can also taste a hint of apricot and the vanilla is still there. It has a long finish that reminds me of smoked fish and at the end salt and peppar. Such a lovely journey from start to finish.
