Tastes

As far as ryes go this isn’t very exciting. Not very spicy, no mint, or dill, or licorice or anything else that makes you think its a rye. What it is is sweet, honey and baking spice with a little heat on the tongue. As an affordable mixer it’s probably very good. But its not something I would wanna drink straight simply for what it offers.

Nose: menthol eucalyptus rye. Clean and light sweetness. Palate is a little minty eucalyptus but bold sweetness and ethanol heat. A little drying but a good long finish of minty sweet gum.

Eucalyptus and min on the nose and palate. Basically Alberta Premium with a bit more wood character.

Typical sweet bourbon but what stood out for me was the bubble gum taste.

Vanilla, baking spices, a little dusty corn. Some black pepper in the finish.

Typical bourbon notes and tastes. I tried the one year and two year. The one year is sweet and fruity, like cotton candy. The two year had more oak on the palate but still sweet and pretty. Good beginner bourbon.

The peat is very light. Vanilla, grape and apple. Some slight spice. Not as malt funky as would be expected. So i would prefer this over other lightly peated scotches like highland park 12, or Johnny Walker (all).

Pretty clean tasting single malt. Very little of the malt funk taste. Very much in the Irish whiskey arena.

Nose comes off malty and oaky, also light Kiwi shoe polish that comes in the metal tin. Palate charred oak and black pepper finish, slightly dry, not very sweet. Doesn’t make me think bourbon.
