Milam & Greene Port Finished Rye
Rye — Indiana , USA
Reviewed July 20, 2021 (edited February 1, 2022)Definitely MGP like rye but more dark fruit and slightly dusty with the port finish in Texas. Compared to my other MGP double rye which is brighter and more menthol this one is darker and richer. This is not one you want to pass up. If you see it, get it. -
Peerless Kentucky Straight Rye (24 Months)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 29, 2021 (edited January 3, 2023)Refined rye nose, slightly dusty, sweet and woody. Not overly sweet smelling. Palate is a sudden sting of rye spice and vanilla on the tongue. Some menthol and pepper. A great balance of spice, alcohol heat, and sweetness. Enough alcohol so fumes fill your sinus but not enough to dry and singe the throat. -
George Dickel 13 Year Bottled in Bond Tennessee Whisky (Spring 2007)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed June 16, 2021 (edited September 10, 2021)Mine was distilling season fall 2008. Smooth it is not! Nose is deceiving vanilla caramel sweet deliciousness. Palate is intense peanut brittle, corn whiskey, cracker jacks, warmth and Kentucky hug. Ethanol fumes up the sinus and a heart burn reflux finish (in a good way). Its a delicious snack in a bottle that leaves you rode hard and put up wet. -
Many reviews on total wine and similar app say “Smooth”. Well yeah, its very light, nothing funky, bitey, or offensive, so if you like your whiskey to be like a bottled high ball. Then this is your whiskey. Or maybe you’re just a beginner and thats Ok, we all start somewhere. The nose is light alcohol, and apple. That’s about it. If you can pick out caramel, vanilla or other notes then you’re pretty good or imaginative. The taste is well water with a touch of whiskey. You know it’s whiskey, but that’s about it. It’s definitely not bad. Ive had bad and this ain’t it. It’s just a very light clean tasting whiskey.

Andalusia Stryker Smoked Single Malt
American Single Malt — Texas, USA
Reviewed May 14, 2021 (edited January 13, 2022)Nose is deep and dark and makes me think of something like vanilla extract or liquid smoke. The taste is Kapow! Smoke and thick dark rich alcohol. The malt was smoked with Texas oak, mesquite, and apple wood. So yeah, BBQ will likely cross most texan’s mind when they taste this. Definitely has the sweetness of single malt but zero ferment funk. If you like smoke but not bandaids, rubber, and cosmoline then this may be a good Islay substitute. 50% ABV $50 -
Well balanced with a little of all the notes you expect in a rye. Nose is; Baking spices, oak, a little spearmint or eucalyptus, sweet caramel, and the usual Old Forester ripe banana. Palate is cinnamon, oak, a tiny bit of over ripe banana sweetness esp in the finish. A little dry tannin on the tip of the tongue during the finish but the finish isn’t hot or burning. A little bit of everything. It covers all the bases but doesn’t make any one of them really stand out. Lacks any memorable pizzazz but for the price of $22 well, now you’re talking.
