New Riff Kentucky Straight Rye Bottled In Bond
Rye — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed March 20, 2021 (edited April 10, 2021)Wonderful floral aromas on the nose Some honey notes. Smooth vanilla on the palate, somewhat challenging to find anything on first taste. A spicy charred oak finish with some late mint as well. This taste was distilled in spring of 2016... Possibly the first model off the line so to speak for New Riff, I'm biased bc they're local, but a very impressive first effort for them. -
Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 6, 2021 (edited May 18, 2021)Oak and leather on the nose, plus cinnamon and mint Cinnamon on palate, very sweet/ sugary, oak, and a really lovely vanilla flavor. Very spicy and hot finish but that fades to a rich sweetness that sticks around. Once past the finish, or toned down with a couple ice cubes, it's a really fine profile, maybe overly sweet for my taste, but very strong on the palate. The 86 rating on this app really betrays the quality of this pour imo -
Full oak on the nose, caramel notes, very rich scents, cedar too. Somewhat spicy on the palate, light oak flavoring, maybe cocoa. Has a smooth enough finish, some spice at the end. Packs a lot more flavor than any other wheat I've had so far, but not necessarily in a good way. A nice enough bottle but the heafty wood and spice combo isn't for me, though I can certainly see how someone would enjoy it, definitely possible by the end of the bottle I'm ready for another.

Rittenhouse Rye Bottled in Bond
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 24, 2021 (edited January 30, 2021)Understated nose, cinnamon, vanilla, eventually opens up with some lovely baking spice aroma. Some cherry on the palate but again, a very understated flavor profile. Incredibly rich, oily, smooth finish is where this shines... stays with you beyond the sip (in a good way) Editorial, this was one of the first impulse buys that I got and enjoyed, only to find it well reviewed on Distiller... spiked my interest in enjoying bourbon and ryes! -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 18, 2021 (edited May 10, 2021)Vanilla on the nose and some cinnimon Very light flavoring on the palate, charred, oak, minty finish, somewhat oily... Very powerful and distinct finish, very disagreeable to me. Not getting the sweetness or richness listed in flavor profile... Hopefully a tasting at another time will yield a very different result
