I got berries at the front end and orange on the end just as the tasting notes suggest. Incredibly smooth sip with no burn anywhere but also lacks much flavor complexity. I also found no smokiness which surprised me as someone who has just started tasting irish whiskey. At or just slightly above average imo but a decent value for the price.

Rye, baking spices, vanilla some alcohol on the nose. Oily mouth feel with sweet rye on the pallet. More rye on the finish balanced with sugary seeetness, little to no burn and a very very short finish at that. Nicely balanced and approachable but I think I personally prefer more spice out of my rye. Nevertheless it's a nice value and I'll likely be buying again.

rich baking spice aromas with some rye and citrus notes on the nose plus oak. Thin mouth feel with oak again and I got some apple pie. Slight burn on the finish which sticks around for a bit. Not a complex pour, but very high value. Hard to find for me but will definitely be getting again when I find it

Four Roses Small Batch Select Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 17, 2022 (edited November 30, 2022)caramel, cinnamon, oak and cocoa on the nose... Nice complexity. Oak and caramel on the palate. Very rich/ syrupy mouth feel. Early spice and hint of burn on a very short finish with some vanilla notes & ccoa at the end. Very approachable, nicely balanced pour. Maybe doesn't hit it's price point but comes close. I won't be rushing out to get another but solid bottle nonetheless. -
Maple, baking spice, oak, some vanilla on the nose. Sweet on the palate with an oily mouthfeel, the spiciness is front and center. Aggressive spice and burn with ethanol on the finish, also a dose of rye on the back end. A little too much proof for me. However... I added a couple drops of water to a neat pour as the review here recommends and it REALLY balanced everything out! Still, I'm not as high on this one as many others are.

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 31, 2022 (edited October 7, 2022)This was a store pick from Smyrna World of Beverages, north of Atlanta. An excellent store with terrific prices! Molasses, sugar, some baking spices on the nose. More molasses or caramel, peanut, very rich syrupy mouthfeel. Short finish with some pine, very light smoke and gentle burn. This is a very fine bottle, well balanced and approachable. Of note: this single barrel laked much of the aroma I enjoyed from my first tasting, and seems a little less complex so I took just 1/4 off my rating this time. Interesting that my note on the finish is so different! -
my first scotch tasting! Smoke, berries, alcohol on the nose plus a light pine. Hint of the bourbon barrel finish on the palate but primarily fruit, berries & iodine for me, though I didn't get the bacon mentioned in the flavor review on this app. Hearty smoke and peat on the finish, a exceptionally smooth finish with little to no burn. An exceedingly rich and full flavor to this one though I didn't find it as spicy as reviewed here. Got this on a lark because it was on sale for a great price and it's blown my socks off... Will be pursuing different whiskies outside of bourbon more frequently now!

Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 21, 2022 (edited July 27, 2022)cinnamon, apricot, hint of cherry on the nose. Slight rye on the palate, oily, oak and baking spices. Harsh finish off the bat but alcohol burn receeds quickly for an overall very short finish including more oak. The richness stands out on the finish. Like it's single barrel breathren this punches above it's price tag but in my opinion not to the point that it demands to be a fixture in any collection -
Elijah Craig Small Batch Single Barrel Select
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 1, 2022 (edited June 22, 2023)This is a single barrel store pick from Smyrna World of Beverages outside of Atlanta. Which is a FANTASTIC store! Caramel, molasses, pine on the nose. More sweetness, cherries and light char or smoke on the palate with a very smooth mouthfeel. Hint of berries on the finish, very little burn. Well balanced and not overly complex, very drinkable. The price I got it for makes it very worthwhile but just a little bit disappointed in a single barrel. -
sweet apricot, oak, alcohol Brandy & rye on the palate, some smoke... I didn't get any of the maple syrup mentioned in the flavor profile here. Burn early on the finish that recedes and the spicy rum flavors stand out and stick around for a time. A very complex pour with numerous layers obviously, the high proof requires some ice for me to cool it down a bit
