Tastes

Nose: cherry, bitter orange, earthy grass, sweet and spicy. Palate: sweet, malty cereal, hot on the tongue, vanilla, maple, long finish.

Color: rich red caramel. Light tears. Nose: sherry, fruit, witch hazel, alcohol, cherry cordial. Neat: sweet on the lips, spicy, hot alcohol on the tongue, clove, cinnamon, turpentine, long finish. With quite a bit of water: brings out the cherry on the nose. Opens the sweetness and fruit, tones down the alcohol. Has a note of brandied fruitcake. The sherry wood lingers long on the finish as the sweetness dissipates. This is strong and delicious! Big Bang for your buck!

Sweet, spicy, clove, cinnamon cake. Delicious! Tastes like Christmas!!

Golden caramel color. Oily. Beautiful tears. Nose: cinnamon, spice, cherry, vanilla, syrup. Same as nose, gentle alcohol, bitter orange. Nice. Honestly with a name like Black Barrel, I was hoping for a bit more smoke.

Nose: sweet, sherry, orange rind, delicate and sweet, with a bit of alcohol. Pallet: citrus, then sherry, then alcohol and spice, long luxurious finish with caramel, burnt sugar, sweet cherry. So lovely the aftertaste. (Bought for $115 at Reservebar.com.)

Nose: honey, sweet cherries, cedar. Pallet: sweet and very sherry. Fruity and woodsy, like grandmas cedar chest. Slightly bitter but long finish.

Hated this! Never send the husband for Scotch! No flavor but bitter alcohol. Too light. I️ think they lied about the ABV: I did not even feel any alcohol. Just plain BAD!! We need negative stars.

It’s very “Balvenie.” Well rounded and delicious. Cedar and woody. Not as deep as the 17 triple wood, but similar for a fraction of the price. Very nice!

Saved this for Thanksgiving. It was very pleasant and light and inviting. Sweet but spicy light and tasty. I really liked it. I will add more notes later next time I drink some.
