This first Cask Strength Pinhook release was bottle at 115.3 proof and has a deep and bright nose of Creme Brûlée, orange zest, and toasted coconut, which sets the stage for a rich and harmonious palate of pralines, brioche, cocoa, and candied cinnamon. This release recently won Gold at the 2019 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Very smooth with still enough bite to linger. Hints of vanilla, honey, and cherry. Very solid wheater, tough to beat for the price tag.

Caramel, apple and oak nose. Soft vanilla on the palate with a pronounced mint note that complements the sweet and soft wheated character. Long finish showing more of that unusual-to-Maker’s mint.

Creamy and spicy nose, carmel mocha finish with strong charred oak and spicy lingering finish. Very solid long bite for a 90 proof. Very solid for the price point.

Cinnamon and leathery nose, smooth honey-carmel, oak finish with a solid bite for a 90 proof. Will be adding this to the rotation for sure.

pepper, chocolate, spearmint, pretzle, solid burn, long finish...great sipper, little pricey but I'd buy it again.

Vital Stats: 92 proof. 46 percent alcohol by volume in a 750 milliliter bottle. Corn whiskey aged for roughly 11 years in used barrels at MGPI in Indiana and then finished with a second aging in toasted barrels for about 28 days. Appearance: Burnt copper, chestnut. Nose: My first whiff, I get hints of toffee, chocolate and a bit of sour oak. As I sat with it, I detected more of an element of dried dark fruit. The nose bouquet reminds me of a complex wine. Palate: At first sip, I’m hit with a toasted oaky taste that softens into a sweet, syrupy molasses flavor. The whiskey has the hints of smokiness people have come to expect from Stolen Spirits, but more delicate than you might expect. The whiskey has a buttery, creamy texture, leaving a nice coating in your mouth. Well balanced with a smooth finish, spices like nutmeg and a slight vanilla flavor lingers at the end.

Vanilla, mint, butter, cake...Smooth as can be and has solid heat. Haven't found anything else close to as good anywhere near $40. Absolute steal.
