Old Charter Oak Mongolian Oak (2018 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 26, 2019 (edited September 2, 2020)maple, oak, laundry soap, resin, corn, peaches, very light and thin; I understand the idea of highlighting the oak variety, but this would be much better with a heavier char17.0 USD per Pour -
Michter's 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye (2019 Release)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 6, 2019 (edited December 23, 2019)Musty warehouse, sweet tea, cream soda. This is the best rye I've had in 2019. I would rate it even higher if it was bottled at a higher proof.135.0 USD per Bottle -
Faultline Jamaica Rum aged 16 years
Aged Rum — Jamaica, Jamaica
Reviewed June 14, 2019 (edited May 15, 2020)This Hampden-sourced heavy rum independently bottled for K&L Wines is all funk, all the time, so be prepared. I get diesel, celery, and pizza, along with more typical rum fruits. The high proof (125) results in great mouthfeel. One of the most interesting rums in my collection.110.0 USD per Bottle -
Black Maple Hill Limited Edition Purple Label
Bourbon — Oregon, USA
Reviewed February 18, 2019 (edited April 25, 2020)I've had this bottle for a few months now, and it isn't improving. Fresh corn and faint caramel on the nose. Corn, peanuts, and craft whiskey (licking a piece of wood) on the palate. Very thin mouthfeel. I'm guessing this is no longer sourced, or there is significant new make whiskey in the blend.80.0 USD per Bottle -
My local place is selling the limited edition that comes in the "warehouse" case for $38. The Distiller review is a spot-on description. The 10 is lighter and has more stone fruits than the Uigeadail, which I really like, and I wish the proof was slightly higher, but for the price, there isn't a better Scotch. I had Rollercoaster a couple of months ago, and that one takes the "10" flavor profile and bumps everything up in intensity. But you will pay 10x or more if you are lucky enough to come across a bottle.38.0 USD per Bottle

WhistlePig Old World Cask Finish Rye 12 Year
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Vermont), USA
Reviewed October 13, 2018 (edited June 17, 2019)Lots of stone fruit and some cherry vanilla, but very thin mouthfeel. Only a little of the fruit lingers on the relatively short finish. Would be better if the proof was bumped up a notch or two. Not a good value.
