John J Bowman Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Virginia, USA
Reviewed April 5, 2020 (edited May 28, 2020)For $49 at 100 proof I’ll buy this all day long. Definitely get similar notes to Blanton’s so see the similarity but hey I like this better and seems easier to find. Put this in a Blanton’s bottle and most of the buffalo trace junkies would pick this 9 out of 10 times blind . Smooth as heck for 100 proof. -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2020-01 "Granny's Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 3, 2020 (edited June 14, 2020)Giving it a 2 because I need to justify the $90 I just spent. Hay, Hay, grass and bitter peanuts. This is terrible, most disappointing bourbon I’ve had since the latest Black Maple Hill out of Oregon. -
One of the best noses, especially for a 90 proof. Very complex, delicate. Get Caramel, vanilla, cinnamon honey, strawberries. Doesn’t transition as much to palate. Get a sweet oak/ berry note. Short to medium finish. Still very good given the proof, punches above its weight in my opinion. Unique, not worth secondary but would def buy at retail any day.

Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 23, 2020OESQ 124 proof/9years. This is the highest proof barrel pick I’ve had from FR. One of the best at that, rich bourbon flavors with a slight floral note and extremely pleasant sweet spice kick that lingers. Thick, delicious, and very well done. Nice medium to long finish. -
Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch A120
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 9, 2020 (edited February 10, 2020)At $49 this is great. Weird but reminds a bit of Blanton’s barrel proof which makes sense given the age/ proof being similar. Great pour this is pretty smooth but lacks the finish and little complexity that give higher marks. But still damn good at price point if you can find it there, buy all day. If not would recommend just buying a couple bottles of ECBP. -
Black Maple Hill Limited Edition Purple Label
Bourbon — Oregon, USA
Reviewed February 9, 2020 (edited December 10, 2021)Most overpriced bourbon I’ve had, glad it was a gift. Hard to describe it, really doesn’t taste like a bourbon, very young can’t be more than 2 years old? Only reason I’m taking my time to write this is so others don’t waste their $$ on this one. Just not very good at all. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 13
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 25, 2020 (edited February 14, 2020)Delicious, might be better than 2019 GTS. After opening up for a little over a week this bottle has smoothed out so much. Might buy a couple more of these to stock up. Wish I could have found the batch #12 to compare -
Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 11, 2020 (edited January 16, 2020)Can’t think of a better bourbon value for what you get here. 1 liter, BIB and it’s pretty darn tasty, nothing super special but surprisingly good. Will always have on hand. -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C919
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 11, 2020 (edited February 21, 2020)Love this one compared to all I’ve tried prior last year. Can’t think of a better bourbon, age, proof, price and mostly available in my area. Would put up against the BTACs any day. Instead of paying crazy aftermarket prices or hunting those buy this whenever you see it. Especially if you like barrel proofs. -
Single barrel pick- best of the Weller’s so far and OWA is one of my favorite bourbons. Thicker/Richer, smooth for the proof. Beautiful nose, caramel , vanilla, slight oak, cinnamon and dark fruits. Transitions to palate with a dark berry coming through, medium to long finish. One of the best bourbons I’ve had.
