I was a bit disappointed with Redbreast Kentucky Oak. It has some nice woody notes from the virgin American Oak but it lacks the classic Redbreast Sherry complexity. I didn’t think it tasted that different than Hinch Double Wood which is a blend and 1/3 of the price. The Score Distiller gives it tells you everything…it’s an Irish Whiskey for Bourbon drinkers. My bourbon friends like this one, my Irish Whiskey friends (myself included) think Redbreast PX was far superior to Kentucky Oak.

I get Pineapple, peaches, cinnamon and honey on the nose. The palate I get more cooked peaches, honey, vanilla, baking spice and a hint of black pepper at the finish. Wish I got more notes from the wine and the port. It’s a lovely whiskey and worth the €120 price but I’m not sure it’s worth all the hype.120.0 EUR per BottleColumbus

Widow Jane Whiskey Distilled From a Rye Mash Oak & Apple Wood Aged
Other Whiskey — USA
Reviewed December 8, 2021Wonderful! Like candy in a glass! I get minty herbal notes from the rye with a sweet candy apple finish. -
Talnua is an amazing Colorado distillery making Irish style whiskey. I was able to try the 2020 Olde Saints Keep, and lucky enough to get a bottle of the 2021 Olde Saints Keep. The nose on this is beautiful! Like a Christmas fruitcake with lots of fruit. The palate gives you wonderful fig and plum notes with a bit of baking spice. I get a lot of fig on the long finish. A very complex whiskey for such a new distillery!

The influence of the Redbreast casks creates a more complex Bourbon. On the nose I get a lot of vanilla and oak. The palate starts with brown sugar and buttery shortbread and heavy oak and on the finish I get a lot of vanilla and clove/cinnamon spice. It’s sweeter than I expected. A big step up from regular Heaven’s Door!

Westland Sherry Wood American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington , USA
Reviewed July 10, 2021This one got me looking more at American Single Malt. Beautiful nose of hazelnut and raisin and fig. The Sherry comes through a bit on the palate with a lovely hazelnut coffee cocoa finish. A bit sweeter than most, it’s a great whiskey
