Still Austin Tanager Cigar Blend Bourbon Whiskey First Edition
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed January 3, 2025 (edited January 7, 2025)I’m not a Texas whiskey drinker. I find that most Texas whiskies have a weird smoky flavor that is just not palatable for me personally so I usually avoid them. But I know Still Austin has a good reputation, so taking a chance on this bottle was a gamble. The bottle and packaging (box) are beautiful. The bronzed eggs in the nest on top of the cork topper add to the elegance of this bottle. The nose was nice and rich and gave hints of what was to come. The flavors on the palate were amazingly sweet, with a zing of cinnamon and other baking spices but with a depth of baked monkey bread. It’s an easy drinker and full of flavors. I enjoyed every sip and recognize the unique qualities this bottle brings to the table. It’s a cigar blend but very light on tobacco flavor. It doesn’t hit you across the face with “I’M A CIGAR BLEND” like other brands do (cough…Huber’s…) It’s truly something that would complement a cigar well even though it’s a little on the light side for mouthfeel. This is something special. Congratulations to Still Austin. This is a beautiful bottle, inside and out. Kind of like Ms Congeniality winning 1st place in the pageant.150.0 USD per Bottle -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2022-03 "Kentucky Tea Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed November 8, 2024Unpopular opinion, but this Bookers seems a bit overrated. It’s hot and the heat doesn’t match the flavor. Definitely need this one over ice because even a few drops of water didn’t make it open up or mellow out. Tobacco forward on the palate. -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2024-02 "The Beam House Batch"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 8, 2024Sweetness on the front and hot on the back end but disapates quickly for a really nice finish. Agree that this is a different flavor profile from a lot of the other Bookers releases. Drinks well under it’s proof and opens up witn just a few drops of water. -
I love Templeton Rye and buy pretty much everything they release. Their much anticipated first release of product distilled in Iowa is as expected, a little lacking. Light mouthfeel, tastes young and doesn’t quite have the depth needed for a stand alone bourbon that can be drank neat. It may be relegated to the shelf for making cocktails.
