Killowen 5 Year Signature Rum & Raisin Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed August 6, 2022 (edited February 27, 2024)This whiskey’s young age comes through as a spirited dram. Let it breathe for a few minutes before diving in to better enjoy it. There’s Sandalwood and citrus on the nose, with just the slightest whiff of tobacco ash. At 5-years old and 55% ABV, this whiskey is a little hot, but explodes with sweet, spicy flavors. I was taken back to memories of baked apples and cinnamon, with a modest amount of raisins in the mix. The finish was moderately long, with tones of orange peel and cinnamon. If you can enjoy a young whiskey, this is certainly one to try. -
