Barrell Craft Spirits Gray Label Bourbon 15 Year (2020 Release)
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 28, 2021 (edited September 1, 2021)This is fantastic. The nose is loaded and expressive. Oak, brown sugar, strawberry, peach, banana, coconut, nutmeg, caramel turtles, roasted peanuts and hazelnuts, and a little bit of leather helps show the age. The ideal mix of oak and fruit with tons of complexity Entry is rich and inviting, showing layers of flavor. The spice shows up first in nutmeg, allspice, and some clove, then the generous richness of the oak and brown sugar from the nose sweep over the tongue. Honeyed apricot and peach add to the fruity component of the bourbon and the proof is quite nice as it lets flavors shine without being too hot. Finish is long and complex with tons of gooey caramel, vanilla cream soda, hazelnut brittle, and tannic oak. What a way to end such a fantastic ride. -

W.B. Saffell Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 2, 2021 (edited October 15, 2021)Caramel apples, spicy cinnamon, some barrel funk, and wood smoke on the nose. Its not a shy nose, but I wouldn't call it potent either. Honey roasted peanuts, caramel, baking spices, and oak flow nicely around the mouth. Caramel dominates the finish at first, but spice and oak mix nicely for balanced finish that isn't too dry. Mouthfeel is nice but it is not incredibly thick and viscous, but has an oily feel. Savory bourbon. Never gets too dry though. Good balance of sweet, savory, and spicy. Classic Turkey -
Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B520
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 2, 2021 (edited February 20, 2021)Nose is potent and commanding. Heaps of caramel, coconut, cinnamon rolls, vanilla extract, pear, and nutmeg. Oak and tobacco play a backdrop to the sweet and spicy nose but they don't dominate. Thick and mouth coating. Burn is not as much as expected being full proof. Peanut butter, black pepper, and cinnamon jump out of the gate but caramel, cream soda, sweet woody oak, and vanilla bean round out the next waft of flavors. Some pear and apple come in on the finish but a strong cola and oak note ride smoothly to its lengthy conclusion. As always, ECBP delivers another winner. One of the best on the market and at 60$ its a steal. Especially compared to similar aged statement and full proof whiskeys.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Knob Creek 12 Year Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 6, 2020 (edited February 3, 2021)Dry oak, baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, some caramel, orange and red cherry on the nose. Cereal grain and oak lead off on the palate, then a rush of sweet caramel and vanilla shortbread sweeps the dry oak to the side. Black pepper and mint lead on the finish that ends pretty dry with more oak. Somewhat light in terms of body and weight. It's not light, but certainly not oily or heavy on the tongue. Finish is moderate in length and complexity. A bit too heavy on the oak and lacks a strong finish. It is a perfectly good sipper, but it lacks a few things needed for it to be next level -
Weller Antique 107 Bourbon

Reviewed December 5, 2020 (edited February 3, 2021)Strong nose on this one. BIG caramel, toffee, cinnamon rolls, red apple, and some orange. All sweetness Smooth, easy entry. Vanilla, cinnamon apples and oatmeal raisin cookies. Finish is medium in length. Oak and caramel only show up in the finish for me. Its got that sweet wheat flavor for sure. Plenty of bakery fresh treats with little spice to give an edge. Overall, I think its delicious, but its sweet and lacks a lengthy finish. But I can drink this all day -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 13
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed October 23, 2020 (edited October 27, 2020)Dynamic nose that really commands your attention, you know you're in for something good. Vanilla, cherry, almond, leather, brown sugar, butterscotch, allspice. The longer it sits the more old musty used bookstore notes and charred oak I pick up. Warmth all around the mouth and throat but it never becomes overwhelming. Great balance of spice and sweet. I get the vanilla, brown sugar and butterscotch I got from those nose. Orange and clove come in after the bakeshop sweets fade. Mint and a little cherry cola on the long finish. Leaves my mouth pretty dry. Mouthfeel is nice and supple but its med + at best. Took a few months for me to review this for whatever reason. It wasn't speaking to me for the first few pours and I wanted to give it some time. It really came into its own. Very nice
