Reviewed May 28, 2020 (edited February 21, 2021)Barrel 12K09-2136 Warehouse A Floor 2 Rick 11 Barrel date - 11/9/12 Bottle date - 7/5/19 BTL 50/58 124.8 Proof Neck pour in Norlan, sitting for 15 minutes. Splash of water. Sticky sweet honey and vanilla up front. Notes of lemon and orange zest, dark chocolate, black plums, nutmeg and cinnamon each meld beautifully with each other. Cherry cola notes linger as well. Very seamless nose if not a little tame for the proof . Honey and vanilla jump out first followed by notes of fruity pastry. Think pear tart with some whipped cream on top. But before these sweet notes take over, you get a nice hit of oak char and pumpkin pie spice. Mouthfeel is superb with great viscosity and weight. What stands out most to me in this bourbon is the finish, dominated by chocolate malted milk balls and vanilla that goes on for minutes. Absolutely stellar and memorable. First WFE, quite impressed with all they packed in this bottle in 6+ years. -

Parker's Heritage Wheat Whiskey 13 Year
Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 19, 2020 (edited December 5, 2023)Oh man, this nose is just heavenly. Sweet orange and cherry, warm oak, cinnamon candies, new leather, pie crust, and vanilla frosting. No ethanol either for 63.7%. Make this a candle scent. Silky, mouth coating, a slow burn. Chocolate chess pie, cinnamon, orange and cherry from the nose, more baking chocolate, oak, and leather lingering for minutes. Simply one of the most complete whiskeys I've ever had. It's got it all. Nose is amazing, palate is intoxicating and smooth as silk, finish lasts for minutes. -
Old Ezra 7 Year Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 18, 2020 (edited September 20, 2020)Nose is deep and dark. Dark cherry, dark chocolate, dark malted cereal grain. Almond, anise, caramel, and old book shelf notes really round out the brooding nose. Caramel buttered biscuits and orange marmalade starts off. Marzipan, peanut butter, and oak lead way to vanilla, cinnamon, and cherry on the lengthy finish. Smooth, with just a little burn. Tame for a barrel proof. This indeed would be a great bourbon for a cold winter's night. Lots of festive flavors. I mean, don't get me wrong, I will enjoy this all year.50.0 USD per Bottle -
Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 16, 2020 (edited April 14, 2021)Nose took a bit to open but with a few drops of water and 15 minutes it shows quite well. Burst of vanilla extract, followed by creme brulee, nutella, white flowers, honey, and a little clove. Silky, gorgeous mouthfeel. Nutty, spicy rye start off the palate that slowly transforms into sweet caramel, cinnamon red hots, touch of leather, and oak. Very little Kentucky hug on this one It's a bit tame on the nose. But, what's there gives it high ranks as well as the superb palate, mouthfeel, and finish. Gorgeous BiB -
Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed May 16, 2020 (edited October 27, 2020)Batch 10 BTL 2/529 Strong aromas of toffee, hazelnut, brûléed fig, apricot, and sweet tobacco upfront while cinnamon, oak, and leather linger on the enveloping nose. Super smooth. Starts out with spearmint, grape must, milk chocolate, and vanilla. Next comes the baking spices, cinnamon, anise, and some clove. Beautifully long finish. Before its had it's way with your tongue, the wonderful warmth of oak makes you come back for sip after sip. Not too tannic, (which is good for a cigar I'd imagine) with help from the finishing barrels. Wonderful balance in blending. Not a cigar smoker anymore, but I might have to make an exception one day while enjoying this bourbon. What a dram. -

Caramel, brown sugar, sweet cherry, nutmeg, and clove. Some leathery oak but its faint at the back end. Starts things off with a sweet blast of cherry, some Flinstones vitamins, oak, and creme caramel. It coats the tongue quite well and is a great proof with just the right amount of heat. Finish lingers nicely and stays sweet still. Mouth is a little numb. The palate compared to the nose was a bit of a let down. This is a situation where the sum of the parts is not greater than the whole. Loved the nose Loved the weight and mouthfeel Palate was a bit subdued Finish was a bit weak Still rather enjoyable Will try again in a few weeks to check on this one.70.0 USD per Bottle -
Very Olde St. Nick Cask Strength Summer Rye Whiskey
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 3, 2020 (edited March 25, 2022)Just opened. Rested in glencairn 15+ minutes. The nose is like an old-time soda jerk! Vanilla cream soda and cherry cola are just dripping from this nose. It's got oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, and some pepper to tone the sweetness down a bit. A yeasty bread note appears after even longer sitting in the glass. Smooth, coats the tongue very well. Starts peppery, with a burst of rye spice, that fades to sweet cherry and vanilla. A medicinal quality that I think it tows the lines perfectly between artificial cherry cough syrup flavor vs real cherry and medicinal notes. It really tastes of the two things separate. The proof really lingers and warms the throat. and there is a fair amount of tannins in this too. The finish is super long, I was still getting some lingering sweet vanilla and oak for 2+ minutes after each sip. Not sure exactly where this liquid is sourced from or why it's priced so high, but damn did I love this rye. It's pretty sweet, but that's my style, hence the score. Savor this one if you can get your hands on one and the price doesn't deter you.229.0 USD per Bottle
