On the nose, not that different from the 12 year, but miles away from the Abun'ahd. More than the 12 the extra four years lends to an inarguably deeper nose but not the additional hints of sherry or tobacco that I was hoping for. On the palette the 16 delivers a richer classic Aberlour profile but not one notably better. Won't avoid it, but might lean on the 12 instead.

GlenDronach Parliament 21 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 31, 2017 (edited August 28, 2022)Definitely better than the GlenDronach 12 is, and very much the same flavour profile, but perhaps not worth the price. -
A gift from D, and my first exposure to Tullibardine. Despite not being a Speyside, the 500 manages to deliver a truly balanced and sherry-forward scotch. If anything it might be a little *too* balanced, with there almost nothing on the nose despite its 43% ABV, and on the palette the sherry is the predominant flavour with only hints or complexity behind it. Would certainly seek this again nonetheless.

Macallan Edition No. 2
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 13, 2016 (edited January 5, 2017)Another purchase from the November 2016 BCLC limited spirit release. Was hoping for something closer to The Macallan Amber given the deceptively rosey colour, but was a little disappointed. On the nose there was nowhere near the same tobacco scent as Macallan's other deeper coloured offerings. On the pallet only a hint of that Amber or Rare Cask fruitcake fullness. Would give it 3.5 stars if I could, and would think twice if I wanted to buy this again.
