Tastes

This tastes like someone melted down an old leather boot and threw alcohol in it. Not a great drink. The 100 proof bonded version however is one of my favorite bourbons and only costs about 4 dollars more.

Picked up a fifth for about 22 dollars. Pretty solid option for the price. It's got a relatively weak flavor but it's smooth, smokey, and satisfying. This often gets labeled as a knock off Johnnie walker black label which may be true, but because it's about 10 dollars cheaper than JW you can't go wrong with the smokey black grouse.

I found this and gave it a go. This is among the best value bourbons I've ever had. You can get a handle (1.75L) for around 20 dollars and the taste is smooth although it is a tad weak but that is to be expected at the price point. As long as this thing stays inexpensive this is a great drink for people on a budget.

Reason for the high rating again is the price. This usually sells between 12-15 dollars and you can't beat the price for a 100 proof. Nothing incredibly special about it, it's pretty much Evan Williams black label but stronger

Imagine a smoother Dewar's white label mixed with Monkey Shoulder. It has the orange citrus taste of Monkey Shoulder but is not as prevalent. There are hints of peat and smoke although they are very faint. I also get a salted caramel finish. Overall pretty solid, definitely worth the few extra bucks to buy this instead of the white label. The balance of flavors make this an enjoyable sipping scotch.

If you are considering buying this, I assume that oak is one of your driving tastes. Oak is definitely present in this bourbon although there is a slight hint of vanilla. This bourbon is smooth and easy to drink. If you appreciate oak and vanilla qualities in a bourbon, than this is a great budget bourbon for you.

This is an affordable blended scotch with many speyside qualities such as citrus. I taste a significant amount of orange from palate to finish. Personally I prefer the peaty quality of an islay scotch, but if you prefer the citrus flavor in a scotch then this is a must try

With these bottom shelf whiskeys you are always taking a gamble but this is the ultimate strike out. The initial taste is not bad, I picked up a bit of honey and citrus, but the finish is absolutely horrible and resembles cleaning chemicals. This is the only whiskey ive ever had that literally made me vomit. I dumped the rest of the bottle down the drain and felt glad that I bought it simply so I could save one person from ever trying this complete abomination of a scotch.

Much like actual fire and ice, this is the complete opposite of the song of fire edition. This is meant to be served chilled and the result is a smooth, floral Scotch that is not complex, but goes down like water with no burn. Probably the most refreshing whiskey there is

Imagine Johnnie Walker black label and add more flavor and smoothness. Not much needs to be said, a step above the standard of blended scotch
