Lagavulin 16 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 21, 2021 (edited December 20, 2021)Nose - briny, salty and some peatyness but not overwhelming, as it rests more I get a sweetness, very easy to smell with little alcohol on the nose Taste - "damn, that's good" is my first thought. Smooth with a peaty flavor that isn't overly intense, fills the back palate then the front with a salty and meritime essence Finish - after the taste flushes the palate it sticks around for a minute, breathing out through the mouth enhances the flavors idling on the tongue Score - 4.75, favorite peated Scotch from what I've had, will be a staple in my collection. It pairs well with a cigar while out on the greens. Scoring Legend 5.0 - Outstanding, unmatched to others 4.5 - Excellent, I will always keep a bottle in stock if possible 4.0 - Very good, quite enjoyable to drink, can consider as a solid choice 3.5 - Good, would taste again 3.0 - Average 2.5 - Acceptable, still drinkable 2.0 - Inferior, able to drink but not enjoyable 1.5 and below—wouldn’t drink again unless I am desperate -

Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie Scottish Barley
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 4, 2021 (edited January 20, 2022)Nose - fruity, nutty, honey, apples, not too strong on anything specific, all mix together well, burns the nostrils a bit Taste - fills the palate with a rich, floral, and somewhat fruity combination. Hard to put into words, but very good Finish - pulsing waves of flavor, it just keeps going with apricots and fruit, something else is there but I can't put my finger on it, honey tapers off the end, warms the mouth and throat which feels great in this sweater weather Score - 4.5 Scoring Legend 5.0 - Outstanding, unmatched to others 4.5 - Excellent, I will always keep a bottle in stock if possible 4.0 - Very good, quite enjoyable to drink, can consider as a solid choice 3.5 - Good, would taste again 3.0 - Average 2.5 - Acceptable, still drinkable 2.0 - Inferior, able to drink but not enjoyable 1.5 and below—wouldn’t drink again unless I am desperate -
Nose - sweet floral notes, subtle peat Taste - light in the mouth, caramel, light smokeyness Finish - quick and smooth, no real flavors other than a slight peat, so smooth...no burn Score - 4.0, there is a lot of hype for this bottle, it is very smooth to the point where you have to weigh that with the little flavor and ease of drinking to what you want in a scotch, and for me that means more of a 'kick' in the flavor/finish. While this is just absolutely smooth, the flavors don't deliver where I prefer my scotch to be. Scoring Legend 5.0 - Outstanding, unmatched to others 4.5 - Excellent, I will always keep a bottle in stock if possible 4.0 - Very good, quite enjoyable to drink, can consider as a solid choice 3.5 - Good, would taste again 3.0 - Average 2.5 - Acceptable, still drinkable 2.0 - Inferior, able to drink but not enjoyable 1.5 and below—wouldn’t drink again unless I am desperate

Reviewed August 4, 2021 (edited November 20, 2021)Nose - not very strong on the nose at first, really opens up when resting for a moment, apricot, honey---Kenz says very much like and orange grove, lots of citrus and spices Taste - rich and fruitful, tastes explode filling the palate with a complex mix of lemon and honey Finish - long and complex, drags out what is tasted on the palate and rolls into an evolving sweetness, lingers with each breath thereafter Score - 4.5, flavors are amazing to me, busting at the seams compared to their 10yr. For the price and what it brings to the senses, this one is going to keep a spot on my shelf Scoring Legend 5.0 - Outstanding, unmatched to others 4.5 - Excellent, I will always keep a bottle in stock if possible 4.0 - Very good, quite enjoyable to drink, can consider as a solid choice 3.5 - Good, would taste again 3.0 - Average 2.5 - Acceptable, still drinkable 2.0 - Inferior, able to drink but not enjoyable 1.5 and below—wouldn’t drink again unless I am desperate
