Breckenridge Rum Cask Finish
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed March 28, 2022 (edited December 9, 2022)This is Breckenridge's premier whiskey for me. Candy corn and molasses on the nose. Some high rye bourbon flavors and rum on the palate. Very smooth and flavorful. -
I was a bit disappointed by this one as I've enjoyed other bourbons with wine finishes, but this was a bit overbearing for me. I'm not a big wine guy, so I may be a bit biased, but the finish is a little too strong and goes all in on the wine flavor. I've enjoyed Angel's Envy in the past, so I'm curious if Breckenridge's port wine finished bourbon is a bit more balanced than this. I do appreciate the finishes they are trying over there because the rum finished bourbon was some of the best I've had.

Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed March 28, 2022 (edited December 11, 2023)I've found this bourbon to be very polarizing. Most of my friends hate it, but I love it. Despite the four grains used, with corn making up the majority since this is a bourbon, the flavors come across like a wheat whiskey; it's got a lot of bread and dough notes coming through. Very interesting take on a straight bourbon from a Colorado distiller. -
TX Blended Whiskey
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in) Texas, USA
Reviewed March 28, 2022 (edited January 30, 2024)I've heard people describe vanilla and birthday cake flavors in whiskey before and never really had any whiskeys that had those notes. This one hits you in the face with both of those flavors big time, which turns it into a bit of a love or hate it affair. I personally like the vanilla flavor they have going on and it's really impressive that they didn't use any additives to achieve it. It's a great dessert whiskey, but if you are searching for typical bourbon flavors you may be pretty disappointed. -
Definitely a dessert whiskey. Tastes like a banana crem brulee with a nice strong finish. I wouldn't want to sip on this all the time, as the flavor is a bit much after the first drink and it would be cost prohibitive at $75+ for a bottle, but it is very good in small amounts. A nice celebratory whiskey.
