Kirkland 24 Year Speyside Sherry Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 29, 2021 (edited September 3, 2022)NOSE Sherry, chocolate, dried dark fruit, xmas cake, gourmet licorice, roasted nuts and some baking spice. Wow, ok. This is a dark, heavy, warm aroma that delivers on the complexity. PALATE Sherry, chocolate, gourmet licorice, nuts, fruit cake, vanilla frosting, malty sweetness, dried dark fruit, and some oak, leather and baking spice. I’m very happy with this palate, this is tasty. FINISH Med-long -> Dark fruit, malt, cocoa, spice and oak drift out gently. -

Reviewed December 27, 2021 (edited April 26, 2022)Nose: Candied dark fruit, cocoa, fruit, cinnamon and Sunkist gems with a winey sweetness. Palate: Candy sweet, darkly fruity, malty and smoky with a roasted nut undertone. Finish: Long -> fruity, smoky nutty. -

Reviewed December 27, 2021 (edited December 28, 2021)Nose: Sweetly fruity, smoke, touch grainy, copper and herbal. Palate: Fruity, charred and smoky, Banana’s Foster and some malt. Finish: Long -> Dried strawberries, leather and char. -

Reviewed December 27, 2021 (edited December 28, 2021)Nose: Candy sweetness, creamy vanilla, malt and dried fruit and smoke. Palate: Candy sweet and a touch spirity and earthy with some dark sweets and smoke. Finish: Long -> Smoky and malty fade, touch lemony and metallic. -

Reviewed December 27, 2021 (edited December 28, 2021)Nose: Floral, spice, smoke, Spree, cereal sweetness, iodine and dried fruit. Palate: Dried dark fruit, smoke, leather, spice, cereal sweetness, and coastal notes. Finish: Long -> Smoked dark fruit and toffee fade out with an earthiness. -
NOSE Caramel, dried orchard fruit, honey, smoke and some malty sweet and coastal notes. Easy, lightly peated, aroma with a definite grain profile and a shiny bit of malt. PALATE Charry smoke, dried orchard fruit, malty sweetness, roasted nuts, caramel and a bit of menthol. There’s a dirtiness to it that reminds me, a bit, of Ledaig. I kinda dig it. FINISH Med-long -> Smoke, earth, caramel, malty sweet and menthol.

Reviewed December 24, 2021 (edited November 28, 2022)NOSE Fresh and dried apples, honey, marzipan, graham, subtle baking spice and hints of banana chips and sultanas. As it opens there’s a wisp of a floral note, but on the whole it’s fruity and honey sweet. PALATE Fresh and dried apples, honey, malty sweetness, marzipan, baking spice and hints of banana chips, graham. A near carbon copy of the aroma. FINISH Medium -> Apple-heavy orchard fruit, malt and a touch of oak fade out with some baking spice. -
Parker's Heritage Heavy Char Wheat Whiskey 11 Year
Wheat Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 24, 2021 (edited March 26, 2022)NOSE Oak, cherry-heavy dried dark fruit, roasted nuts, spice, slight farmy and biscuity notes. The oak DOMINATES the aroma, but not to the point of being one-dimensional. PALATE Oak, cherry-heavy dried dark fruit, roasted peanuts, cinnamon-heavy spice, leather, pepper, clove and bits of cornbread and vanilla taffy. More complex and, slightly, less oaky than the aroma. Still an oak monster to be sure though. FINISH Log -> Oak, dried dark fruit and peanuts fade to spiced oak.
