Purchased for $13 at a big box liquor store. Color is pretty thin and yellow. Nutty aroma with some popcorn. Flavor is corn heavy, as you'd expect. Pretty thin mouthfeel and not much in the finish beyond the alcohol. Seems to get sickly sweet when mixed with cola. Not a bad price for a bonded whiskey, but certainly not a daily sipper.

Tasting notes are spot-on. Creamy texture and a complex flavor. I am a bourbon fan, and this was a great entry for me into scotch.

Reviewing a 25+ year old 1L bottle that was in my dad's liquor cabinet. Deep rich color, alcohol and burnt sugar aroma. Thin mouthfeel and a solid burn. A few lingering hints of caramel on the finish, but definitely was the same quality then as it is now.

6/9/15 at Hops & Hominy SF. Neat at first, then two ice cubes. Smooth, balanced. An excellent rye.

Nice deep color, much darker than most bourbons of this age. Lots of vanilla in the nose. A bit of heat on the tongue when neat, along with a great woody blast. Some caramel and other sweet notes come out with a little water. Mixes oddly well with Dr. Pepper. Excellent buy for $17.

My first time trying a Van Winkle family bourbon, but I do love a wheated bourbon. Lots of vanilla on the nose. Creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth and a great bourbon, but I don't think the price matches the drink. Arrowhead Grille 5/16/15.
