Reviewed January 1, 2022 (edited May 24, 2023)I find this one rather interesting and I can imagine liking it more with time. Butterscotch candy on the nose but with a very distinct influence from the finishing casks. The fruit that comes to mind is apricot though and not pear (one of the finishing casks is pear brandy). The rum cask influence is notable as well, but the Amaro is lost on me on the nose. All this follows through on the palate (apricot jam) with a bit of bitterness (the Amaro cask?). A good amount of heat rounds the sip. Medium finish of butterscotch and apricot jam. High proof but not as noticeable (apart from the level of heat at the end of the sip). My preference is for a drop of water which makes it a little easier to sip without taking too much from the character (just regulates the heat really). -

Reviewed December 31, 2021Butterscotch all the way. Favorite nose - butterscotch and slight sweetness (strawberry cheesecake?). Full body that leaves an oily after taste like.. butterscotch candy. High proof but not as noticeable - very balanced and alcohol burn comes only at the end. A drop of water makes it just perfect. Ok, I've repeated "butterscotch" a lot and it is definitely a prominent note for me, but it doesn't do this pour justice really. It is far more complex with layers and flavors that I struggle to describe. -
Light color. Rum and raisin on the nose balanced by butterscotch and Christmas spices (until I got the butterscotch note it was a little sharp with too much light rum). There is a bit of a funky note too though, which im not a fan of. The palate follows same notes as the nose with distinct Christmas fruit and spices (rum notes are still there). Rather thin. Dry with only a hint of sweetness. Short dry finish of dried fruits. I wish it had spent more time in the oak.

An odd one for me as I'm really not getting what I have read in others' notes. Woody notes on the nose, leather/dust and a hint of raspberry (oddly it reminds me of negroamaro wine). Expected sweeter notes, but these are subtle (vanilla is still there but somewhat hidden). Oak on the palate. Even dryer than the nose suggested. A hint of bitterness. The finish is where the sweet notes finally come through - honey and oak.
