Aroma: Sweet corn, cherry, vanilla, wintergreen and a slight funk Flavor: sweet corn, caramel, cherry and finishes with rye spice and wintergreen mint Overall: it's a very unique bourbon, has some floral rye whiskey notes mixed with classic bourbon notes and a little funk

I liked this more than expected. There is a familiar bourbon flavor, maybe some barrel spice and vanilla. The nose is very faint but pleasant with maple, vanilla and some apples
  3. Koval Single Barrel Bourbon

    Bourbon — Illinois, USA

Aroma: saw dust, sweet malt, some oak spice Flavor: Definitely young, has a corn sweetness and a fair amount of barrel spice. Not too complex, however, I can see this being great in a cocktail Overall: definitely not worth the price. I wish that koval would push out some longer aged whiskey because it has potential and they have been distilling for quite some time. Unfortunately it's just too young
  4. Wild Turkey Longbranch

Aroma: very faint, cherry, and a general sweetness Flavor: very muted, hint of cinnamon, cherry and finished dry Overall: not impressed at all, I would take wt101 over this ever day of the week in value and flavor

Tasted this blind aroma: cherry, caramel apple, hint of oak. a bit of a mild aroma but is quite nice overall flavor: sweet, initially hits with barrel spice but it fades quick, oak and bittnerness to finish Overall: the aroma and most of the flavor are great but the finish and complexity lack a bit I tasted this blind along side Weller 107 and I actually preferred the 107, it just had more going on which was crazy to me after the reveal

Aroma: A little funky, apples, cherries (more prevalent as it breathes), slight vanilla and honey. Not as strong as i would expect for the proof but decent. Flavor: Very interesting, has some typical scotch flavors but with subtle notes of bourbon. Apple/pear, spices, a bit of cherry and oak and a lot of honey on the finish Overall: More complex than I would have guessed and has a good proof punch to keep the finish lingering. Very nice scotch and definitely worth the price

Aroma: a heavy dose of ethenol. Really need to let it breath. Once it opens you get hints of cherry, milk chocolate and brown sugar Flavor: quite sweet, a fair amount of cherry, brown sugar and some oak. Finishes with a slight bitter oak Overall: It's an average bourbon with a good proof but definitely not worth the price. Comes off very hot and a little young. Lacks a little complexity.

Store pick Aroma: sweet corn, chocolate muffin and a hint of peanut Flavor: barrel spice really comes through on this one. Malt sweetness and milk chocolate that's finishes with some oak and spice and peanuts Overall: excellent pick that was about 7 years old. Has more character and body than the standard larceny

Aroma: cinnamon dominates, brown sugar and a hint of peanuts and fenugreek. Flavor: cinnamon, corn sweetness, slightly bitter oak. Has a slight youngness to it but really not too much. Overall: I tasted this blind and was surprised that it's only 93 proof, it packs a huge spice punch! The large amount of rye helps hide the age but with some water that comes right back. If I find it on sale I'll probably pick up a bottle
