Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 18, 2021 (edited August 19, 2021)Nose: heavy oak and caramel Palate: sweet toffee and chocolate, like the the exhale of a heath bar. Underripe papaya, clove, simple syrup with a slight tingle mid tongue from ethanol Finish: big bold toffee upfront, this is one of my favorite bourbons to end a night of tastings on, toasted oak and vanilla in the very end. This bourbon is an incredible value, hope to see it stick around. It makes the perfect introduction to bourbon with its smooth body and sweet toffee notes -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed April 16, 2021 (edited April 19, 2021)Nose: getting past the ethanol tickling my nose hairs is a nutty oaky vanilla Palate: this is one. proofy. gal. Heavy black pepper/ethanol, classic oak, vanilla, and a lot of brown sugar and a hint of baking spices. Mouthfeel: an astringent starchy snap of half ripe raw plantains, and the feeling in your gums before you take a drink of water after eating a mouthful of cashews. Thankfully the sweetness coated my mouth long after the mouthfeel was gone Finish: Classic delicious vanilla, brown sugar that lingers long before the next sip I think is an amazing value for $59, can’t think of anything that comes close to this at the same price point59.0 USD per Bottle -
Oregon Spirit Single Barrel Bottled In Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Oregon, USA
Reviewed April 9, 2021 (edited June 16, 2022)This is a really fun four grain from a grain to glass distillery in Oregon. Nose: kettle corn, vanilla, surprising about of deep oak for the relatively young age Palate: brown sugar, maple syrup, simple syrup meets earthy rye bread, plenty of toffee and a nice mouthfeel that coats the entire palate Finish: toffee, candied peanuts, vanilla, and more brown sugar. I think this single barrel is well worth the price (at least for this barrel)65.0 USD per Bottle -
Nose: sweet malt, burnt sugar, ethanol Palate: surprised that up front was all thick malty richness with tons of simple syrup, but then transitioned to banana and yeasty esters from the beer barrel. Finish: surprisingly strong oak, brown sugar, simple syrup, and a gentle yeast finish Giving such a high score because it is really well done for what they wanted to accomplish. It’s not up my alley but glad I got to drink it.

MM101 neck pour Nose: Vanilla, Queen Anne Cherries, Apple, wood char Palate: the cherries really come through with a nice vanilla ice cream mouthfeel, dark caramel, and a pleasant burn mid palate Finish: cinnamon surprise and a surprisingly dry finish compared to the creamy mouthfeel, caramel and vanilla last until the next sip37.0 USD per BottleLubbock, TX

George Dickel No. 12
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed March 21, 2021 (edited July 1, 2021)Nose: sweet funky candy corn sitting in a toasted oak dish Palate: corn syrup, oak, vanilla Finish: sweet corn with the smallest hint of spice and a touch of lime zest and candy corn in the very end20.0 USD per Bottle -
Wattie Boone & Sons 7 Year Small Batch American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — USA
Reviewed March 15, 2021 (edited May 3, 2022)Nose: ethanol and vanilla Palate: vanilla, toasted grain, and almond. Very thin body on this whiskey. Finish: Very short vanilla with a hint of toasted oak leads to a weird dry bitter almond aftertaste and leaves your mouth feeling like you just ate an almond and don’t have any water to wash it down Summary: for the price there are whiskeys that will absolutely blow this out of the water, it was given to me by a member of a whiskey club who did not like it, and I see why. The dry bitterness compliments the lemon in a whiskey sour though!74.0 USD per Bottle -
