Possibly the most perfectly balanced single malt I’ve ever tried, and so much going on, from nose to finish. Mind blowing.

A stunning, puddingy dram.

One of those rare, perfectly crafted whiskies where a superb spirit has worked in perfect harmony with the brilliant, well chosen casks it’s slept in. Sweet, spicy. Toffee hidden behind soft raisins. Nigh on flawless.

Shit Sandwich.

A beautiful, light, sweet, floral dram. The key word here is honey. Honey, honey, honey. So good it’s ridiculous - Speyside at its brilliant best!

Beautifully balanced and enjoyable, but without being really memorable. Lemony and peaty. Kind of reminds me of an Ardbeg, but with everything toned down to about half-power (and clearly not in the same league!). A lovely dram from a rapidly improving distillery.

For something so affordable this is such a lovely blended whisky. A perfect balance of smokiness and sweetness. However, it does always leave me somewhat unsatisfied. The mouthfeel is a tad wishy washy, almost as if it’s been watered down (which at 40%, of course it has). And the finish just isn’t quite what it promises on delivery - just slightly insipid. Can’t grumble for the price though. A great drink.

My introduction to the world of single grain whiskey and I simply love this drink! It may be finished in wine casks, but has a lot of bourbony qualities - honey, vanilla, charred oak... Lovely toasty finish that just gets better and better the more you get to know it. Can’t imagine my collection ever being without a bottle of this.
