Tastes

Good amount of smoke, a bit of medicine and ash. There are a few baking spices to find, but little else. It could scratch the Islay itch if you find it on sale, but it's not realy very good for me.

I really wanted to enjoy this. Affordable, caskstrength peated Single Malt from Islay?! Yes please!! Except this was a little tired. Good peat notes, some smoke and honey sweetness. The malt was a bit thin, and with time the peat settled more into ash and less into a smoldering moss or earth.

I have only just started this release, but the balance of char/spice with richer sweeter caramel and vanilla is excellent. I think I am going to enjoy this throughout the year. Cheers!

I enjoyed this far more than I expected. A very light additon of smoke and vegitable or herbal note is well surrounded by the creamy Dewar's blend. I will not chase down another bottle, but certainly will enjoy this one till it's done.

A quality, affordable Bottled-in-Bond. Mostly brown sugar, vanilla, and a bit of cinammon. With time, the finish gives a little more oak, but lighter wood and not lots of char. Still, and easy pour, and easy to enjoy.

This is good, full peated Scotch. Heavy phenol with some interesting fruit. Also, rich, oily and surprisingly drying on the finish. All of which I enjoy. However, it is way overhyped IMO. I even prefer the regular 10 year which is cheaper in my market! Worth a try, but please to do not throw money at this. I do not appreciate the over marketing here.

Loved this dram. Sweet, rich fruit wrapped in smoke and light peat. I only had a sample of this but would certainly seek out a bottle if I could. Delicious!

This is worth a dram if you enjoy Islay Scotch. A bit young and a bit asky, but it is sweet and spicy too. I only had a sample bottle, but I'm sure I will pick up some more!

Dark and smoldering. This is a rich and oily dram for me that keeps some of the classic brine and sea notes but is still sweet and delicious. Not for the feint of heart though!

This bottle surprised me. I've had it before, but it never really excited me. This time, I am getting clearer vanilla, creamier caramel and better wood structure. I have bumped up my score simply because I am enjoying it. Critically it may be a wee bit less, but an easy drinking, yet tasty dram!
