BEARFACE Wilderness Series Matsutake
Canadian — British Columbia, Canada
Reviewed June 19, 2022 (edited September 4, 2022)This is unique. Earthy, sweet, oaky evan bready. It is incredibly hard to explain this whisky. However, I appreciate that it is not just another sweet, buttery Canadian. It has sweetness, but also dusty oaky notes with some clear mushroom notes. If you love mushrooms on your pizza, try this out. So cool. -
My experience is not as hard as the other reviewer here. I poured this after a particularily poor dram so I was thankful for the lemon, sweet, fruity nose. A little sharp, but welcoming and captured my interest. The palate is coating and malty. However, it is a little bitter and alcohol pronounced. Clearly young, but for the price in my market, this is a descent dram. The finish is short, but the lightly drying, and yet coating memory is pleasant. I would say trying it if a good value in your market.

Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 24, 2021 (edited October 27, 2021)Not sure if this is actually Gold or just the regular Blanton's Bourbon. This is an excellent bourbon. Tastes like cinnamon buns iced with sweet cream cheese icing. I get spicy cinnamon, but then cooked spices and a nice bready note. The finish bring oak and more spice, even cracked pepper. This is an exceptional bourbon. If only it did not cost so much! -
Smooth, creamy, and easy drinking. If price was not an object, this could be a regular Bourbon on the shelf. Nicely balanced with Caramel, vanilla, new Oak, and a hint of cinnamon spice, this is easy to pour and enjoy. The only challenge keeping this from being an excellent release is the crazy price asked for such a soft and mellow dram.

Century Reserve 21 Year Canadian Whisky
Canadian — Alberta, Canada
Reviewed June 11, 2021 (edited August 4, 2022)Heavy with vanillla and caramel this is an interesting dram. For 21 years, i am surprised by some of the spice in this dram. Likely 100% corn and aged in ex-bourbon this has a little more oak and spice than some older Canadian's, but it is sweet and buttery and worth trying. -
Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed May 8, 2021 (edited January 30, 2022)At the beginning of the bottle I was enjoying the dried or leathery fruits, bit of caramel, almonds, and some pepper spice. Now, I really get more oil and salt. Almost a seaweed or fish saltiness. Interesting. I wonder how the bottle will finish. This is good. I prefer the 12, but this is very good.
