Tastes

Excellent, well balanced Whisky with some welcome peat, but not heavy and not too smoky . This is often the Scotch I go to when I want to introduce someone to peat in a Scotch. Some sweetness here too, I struggle to find the taste of the oak. The alcohol is a bit pronounced, but settles with a few sips (3.5 stars)

A smooth, highland Scotch. I find the nose slightly sweet. Some plum or cherries. The taste is classic Scotch to me, with a bit of spice, but sweetness from grain. Creamy mouth feel, with a balanced oak finish.

Peat and smoke feature in this wonderful Islay Scotch. My brother in law feels it is too heavy, but I love the aroma, mouth feel and finish of this Scotch. If you enjoy smoke you owe it to have at least one bottle.

I really enjoy this expression from Jura! Full of peat and good smoke yet it is smooth and rich. Feels slightly oily to me and little high notes or sweetness. Very enjoyable in winter. (edited)

Genuinely surprised with this whisky. I find myself enjoying it far more than I expected. Perhaps a little too sweet, but it has an excellent fruity aroma and a smooth finish. The rye adds some spice but it is balanced well with maybe some carmel notes and a little wood notes too. A great sipping or dessert whisky.
