This is a re review first time I gave it 3/5 but I have since changed my mind. First of all they lowered the price. So if you can get this for $100 per bottle than its 5/5. The nose is really really rich, think of baked apples and pears. The palate is fruity forward with the taste of bitter oak. Then the finish transitions into a dry taste with a lingering whisp of smoke. I just had a ballantines 17 and I gotta say I prefer the royal salute. It's really rich for a blend and very tasty. At the $100 mark are there better single malts? Yes of course but for a blend is definitely one of the best I've had. Cheers

The nose is quite complex. Quite pungent especially for a blend, you smell fruit, cinnamon, quite nutty and vegetal peat. Palate: balanced, medium power, very herbal and a bit astringent. Fruity and nutty, and of course pretty smooth. Finish: medium with lingering spice and vegetal peat. This is an interesting blend because it literally tastes like they made it with some lapgroiag. It's very different from the chivas where the chivas is really fruity. Ballantines 17 tastes fruity with vegetal peat smoke

Forty Creek Copper Pot Reserve
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed June 15, 2016 (edited August 14, 2017)Superb whisky. Much better than the regular standard canadian whiskies like crown royal etc. You can really taste the rye, barely, and corn distinctively. It's really rich and "dark" tasting. One complaint is that it does have a slight alchohol bite but for the price $25 you can't really complain. -
Let's start on why you bought this, it's because it's cheap and my rating has taken that into consideration and I'm going to explain why. Everything is very light and subdued, good for mixing? Nose is light, wood spice, a bit fruity. On the Palate it's thin and got a bit of fruity glenfiddich to it, very grainy. Finish is short, alcohol burn and tiny whisp of smoke. So I been drinking a lot of "bottom shelf" blends so far and for sub $20 ballantines finest is definitely the clear winner. Much better in my opinion, just way more flavour and oomph. Overall this whisky is very light there isn't much taste to it so it's good for mixing that is all.

First of all this is very cheap so don't expect much. But compared to other blends I think it's definitely got its merits. Nose: very sweet, it's not like a sherry sweetness but like a very sweet cereal malty sweetness with a bit of sharp alcohol grain. Palate: very smooth, all the flavours are very composed, a buttery fruity, grain, slightly smokey taste. Finish is short it's smooth but it's got a bit of bite going down. Okay so for the price, it's not too bad I don't know why people are complaining it's so bad, yes it's not as good as my highland park 18 or glendronach 1995 px but those are $150 a bottle. This is less than 20 bucks and for making a scotch and soda or you just wanna save some money and drink something cheap this is actually a very sensible blend. I'm giving it 3 stars, mean it's good and since is cheap it will be a repeat buy from me.

Okay so for $20 cad this isn't too bad at all. I say this because it's pretty mellow. It's got barely any flavour and is very subtle so it's perfect for mixing like it suggests. Although it's only 35% there is a scent of raw alcohol bite but for the price you can't really complain. Are there better rums out there? Hell yes, but at this price point you can't go wrong with cap mo
