A classic. Belongs as the go to bottle in every collection. It is so well balanced, with a little of everything. I wouldn't call it smoky, rather a slight hint of brine. It reminds me of the small port town from which the distillery hails. Sweet, gentle, approachable, toasty. If I could only BUY one whisky for the rest of my days, this might be it. So what if it's not naturally colored. It's still fantastic. The whisky that made me fall in love with whisky, I'll come back to it time and again.

One of my all time favorites. I like peaty stuff, and this is peaty for sure, but it is also so much more. Complex is such a cliche word to describe anything with a connoisseur following, but it's perfectly accurate for this whisky. This whisky is for Sean Connery. It's an adult in the midst of other brash, peated, teenagers. Full, leathery, sophisticated, sweet, briny, nutty, sherry, citrus, long finish. The smokiness is always there but plays harmony to the symphonic melodies of everything else you would want in a classic malt. Severely underrated, well worth the $$$$. A bit of heaven with every sniff and every sip.

Ardbeg Corryvreckan

Nose: Not as peaty as one might expect given the 10, though it's definitely there. The peat in this one carries the other notes- floral, vanilla, honey, iodine, salty. Palate: peat, sweet dark cherry, chocolate/toffee, creamy, BBQ smoke, Seaweed/brine. Long finish, mouth watering, honey, charcoal and salty aftertaste.

Highland Park 12 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed November 16, 2015 (edited November 17, 2015)Favorite go to whisky. Affordable all around good scotch. Nose: sweet, floral, peat. Palate: honey, citrus, smoky, a little salt. Finish isn't too long. I like sherry peated scotch, and this one is always welcome.
