Plantation Pineapple Stiggins' Fancy Rum
Distiller Score 92
The pineapple is upfront on the nose, but not overpowering. Other notes include dried fruit, banana and vanilla. The rich, buttery palate continues with pineapple, as well as citrus peel, vanilla, and notes of hogo and oak. The tropical fruit lingers well into the finish, along with spice notes and hints of sugarcane and oak.

The aroma is dominated by a strong cinnamon presence followed by ginger, allspice, vanilla and cloves. The first sip has a surprising ginger-forward note, followed by vanilla, cinnamon, honey and clove. The oak tannins present a nice cocoa influence to the flavors.

Twenty Boat Cape Cod Spiced Rum
Distiller Score 90
The full bouquet of spices immediately show on the nose. Most predominately, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and chai. The palate has a more, and much heavier, welcoming spice. It is finished with a hint of black pepper that invites another sip. The spice blend was clearly meticulously selected, because everything is in harmony here. Thankfully, there's not a bit of cloying sweetness. Skip the rum and Coke and sip this one neat or with a bit of ice and a lime wedge.

Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced Rum
Distiller Score 87
The aroma of the rum presents initial notes of cinnamon and vanilla. As the glass rests additional aromas manifest of lightly spiced dried fruit and nutmeg. The first sip coats the palate and is dominated by a dark vanilla note that carries through to the finish. Spice notes of nutmeg, cloves, baking spices, and cinnamon are present along with flavors of toasted almonds and dry apricots. Sweet caramel and oak tannins dominate the spice notes and linger in a long rich finish.

Papagayo Organic Spiced Rum
Distiller Score 79
There's a mild red chili aroma coming through on the nose along with some caramel and vanilla. The rum is very much medium bodied and is very lightly spiced. All flavors are quite subtle, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The lightly toasted vanilla, nutmeg, and clove flavors are complementary to the light and zesty base rum. Probably not the best choice for a rum and Coke, but would do fine in any application in which a gold rum is appropriate.

Kōloa Kaua'i Spice Rum
Distiller Score 81
The nose is mild compared to the sweet vanilla bomb found in many spiced rums. The usual vanilla, cinnamon, and clove flavors are there but are very well integrated. Lots of vanilla on the palate, but the real hit here is the strong spice on the back end along with some heat due to the higher proof. This spiced rum is not nearly as sugary sweet as contemporaries and finishes spicy and somewhat dry.

Copper Run Spiced Rum
Distiller Score 81
Cinnamon and nutmeg show up predominantly on the nose. The palate is plenty spicy, with lots of vanilla, clove, and birch flavors. The rum is not cloying at all and has a respectably dry finish. Pick your favorite artisanal cola and add a couple ounces of this spiced rum for a grown up version of the classic cocktail.

Crusoe Organic Spiced Rum
Distiller Score 92
Pretty orange aromas, along with undertones of clove, dominate the nose; the remaining spices reveal themselves more slowly. A Cointreau-like orange flavor continues to characterize the palate, allspice picks up power, and spark of cinnamon heat continues into a long, spicy finish.

Siesta Key Toasted Coconut
Distiller Score 90
The aroma of the rum is that of freshly-cut coconut cream pie. As this fades, slight honey-vanilla and spice notes linger. The flavor of the rum is dominated by the rich toasted coconut notes. Vanilla, baking spices, and honey augment the finish.

Petty's Island Driftwood Dream Spiced Rum
Distiller Score 90
Aromas of vanilla, molasses and pumpkin pie spice (nutmeg, clove and ginger more than cinnamon) leap out of the glass to announce this unique blend. The palate wraps them all in more molasses, light pepper and a sweet, mellow woodiness accented with vanilla. It's pumpkin pie in a glass with the benefit of being far less filling.

Bumbu The Original
Distiller Score 84
A butterscotch-y base gets all tooty fruity with banana, pineapple, mango, peaches and orange zest. The subtle spices add sage, cinnamon, ginger and cardamom with a hint of spearmint in the finish. While pleasing to sip and thankfully not too overpowering in spice, a higher proof would give the flavors more pop.
