Strong on the nose. Due to being cask strength Much stronger than Aberlour 12 double cask and more complex and interesting. Requires more sipping and definitely stronger. A few drops of water needed to open it up. Very enjoyable.
With the cask strength,it’s a slow but enjoyable sip. Add some water and the sherry opens up nicely. It is strong- not an everyday dram but it is complex and lovely for a sweeter whiskey.
Nose: rich and sweet oak, molasses, fresh baked bread, dark ripe fruit perhaps a hint of pear, touch of cinnamon
Palate: apricot, cherry, raisins, a zest of orange. Oaky wood comes late
Finish: apricot, a hint of sulfur, orange zest more prominent now. Deep spice with cardamom vs cinnamon. Smoked oak comes late again
Nose : marmelade, ripe banana, ham, pure chocolate, wet carton, mouldy tones and some aceton. All gets more smooth after adding water.
Taste: raspberry jam, general sweetness, syrup, chocolate, laurel. Alcohol burns at the tip of the tongue.
Finish: lingering sweetness and some dryness
Highly enjoyed because of the broad spectrum of flavours and tastes. Every sip revealed something different.
