My first Indian whisky. There’s moderate peak smoke in the nose. There’s a much stronger wallop of peat on the palette, followed by a sweet surge of flavor, and then it becomes much dryer in the finish, with plenty of BAND-AID flavor and iodine lingering for a long time, and smoke as you lick your lips. 3 cl sample from The Premium Whisky Advent Calendar (2020 Edition).
NOSE: Sooty peat, apricot, malty sweet, vanilla, minerality and some light herbal pops. It's so light coming out of the glass it's hard to pick up much after the sooty peat and the apricots, but when you get those noteful whiffs, it's nice.
PALATE: Sooty peat, apricot, malty sweet, vanilla, minerality and some light herbal pops and a yuzu-like sweetness. Palate sits like a near carbon copy of the aroma with a bit more sweetness but it's so light and dominated by that sooty peat it's hard to really get much out of it.
FINISH: Med-Long -> Sooty peat and lightly fruity sweet with a soft graham kicker, but again there's just not much happening.
Good peated whisky, although it doesn't seem to give me anything particularly unique that I couldn't find in a Islay whisky at a cheaper price point. The Fusion, on the other hand, was a stand-out.
Nose: Oh, just like smelling a laphroaig. Smoke and earth, bonfire.
Taste: Sweet, maybe some fruit but I can't tell what exactly, can also taste peat but the smoke isn't there.
