anCnoc Rutter
Single Malt
anCnoc // Highlands, Scotland
The anCnoc Rutter is part of a newer collection of peaty expressions being distilled by Knockdhu in the Highlands of Scotland. This particular expression is peated at a level of 11 PPM (parts per million) which is the least peaty of the anCnoc "Peaty" range of four whiskies (tushkar, rutter, flaughter, and cutter).
The name "Rutter" comes from the type of spade you see on the label which is used in separating peat blocks. All of the whiskies from this range are named after spades that are used to work with peat.

Tasting Notes
"The nose is very gentle with loads of fruits getting along together very well with grilled pineapples, pear drops, and savory apples. The influence of the wood has also a place of honor with oily vanilla, toasted nuts, and smoked oak. The peat is discrete in the background. On the mouth, spices are added to the fruits (cinnamon mainly) while a touch of brine and salt appears, giving an original twist to the dram. The medium finish is a medley of all the previous encounters, with a main influence of the oak."
