Appleton Estate 12 Year Rare Casks

I’m a scotch, bourbon and mezcal guy so this was me dabbling in sipping rum…… Nose. Herbal with tabacco leaf, leather and a hunt of molasses. Palate. Suprisingly oily mouthfeel. Herbal and much less sweet than I was expecting. No burn but the alcohol is very noticeable on the palate. Finish is fairly short and is mainly the alcohol with a touch of leather and herbal notes. This has not made me want to explore rum further……I think I’ll stick to scotch, bourbon and mezcal.

An absolute delight! Appleton strikes again with molasses, sandalwood, and marmelade. For the price, a steal.

Had neat. Cloves, vanilla, red apple, blood oranges. Musty bananas. This is a very nice Jamaican rum & I’ll buy it next time I see it.

Vanilla orange hazelnut and cocoa notes. Sweet and no bite. Would be great for mixing for drinks.

Fantastic Jamaican rum that was sipped on the rocks. Still has all the bold flavors but is much smoother than many of the others. Will likely be a regular on my bar shelf

Tried neat in peru. On the nares it’s sweet with notes of apple, clove, cherries & dark red fruit. On the palate it’s full on spice but not very complex with notes of caramel and spice
