Starts off woody and I get leather and a burnt note like a burnt sugar but that could be a tobacco note instead unsure there. Which not gonna lie I'm not too much a fan off when I'm looking for Rum but the finish is great and sticks around with notes of fruit, dried fruit. It's tropical and slightly funky some good stuff. The only problem is the signature blend that's $10 cheaper here in Michigan has that finish go the whole way through the drink without the wood, leather, tobacco. Molasses is more prominent in the signature blend as well so honestly I prefer the signature blend but that's just me.
Haven't had any aged rums before. I've enjoyed this primarily as a sipper. There is definitely a good amount of brown sugar and spice in the taste, and I think it tastes almost exactly like it smells. I think I'll look to some other recommendations for the next bottle, not because I've found fault in this, but because I want to keep trying and tasting new things.
