Ardbeg Corryvreckan

Great aroma off the bat- little peaty but warm (maybe that’s the bacon fat?), very smoky and also a little bit sweet- from the cask? A bit of water opened it up, more of a caramel or something. Edit- a second taste on a different day bumped my rating up, let it mellow longer helped.

Vanilla lemon cake, sweet peat and a hint of smoke on the nose. Palate is juicy with some sweet and savory notes, a hint of orange, chocolate and peat. The finish is long and peppery, sweet and savory.

Nose: peat, salt, seaweed, smoked damp earthy moss, iodine Palate: peat, brine and salt, earthy smoke. Oily mouthfeel is delightful. Finish: a touch of spiciness and pepper, some subtle smoke. Rich peat lingers with a hint of brine. Some late rich and dark fruity sweetness. Not nearly as much ethanol burn as you might expect considering the abv.
