I have never tasted whiskey with fewer flavors, but which nevertheless left me speechless. Unprecedentedly strong, thick, dry and smoky as hell. And beautiful.

This week on ‘Sweet Peat (Cask Strength Edition)’... Brine-soaked bacon, a brisket campfire, and maritime smoke... on the nose. But the palate tells a different story and, for me, cask strength sweet and peat don’t mix. Not well at least. I wanted to like this whiskey, but the 57.1% ABV ends up being medicinal and too bitter on the back end to be enjoyable. Just me? Probably. But I’ve made my peace with it.

Meaty brisket cooked over an open fire seasoned with salt, black pepper and ash. Just a hint of stone fruit and almonds. Simply fantastic.

Rich, spicy and brine, three word sum it up, really rich. Time exposed some sweetness and fruits(sherry like?). After a few sips I added a touch of water and it seemed to reduce the heat and spice, more sea water saltiness and seaweed. There is some dry wood on the finish.
