A softening of typical Ardbeg core. The campfire is there but it’s tamed by a sweetness and iodine. The sweetness is mellowed with water and allows almond, walnut and bandaids. Similar to laphroaig 10 in some ways. Much thinner in body than the laphroaig, but richer in flavour (and smoke!!). The palate features tangerine rind. An excellent dram that while not worth the price of admission, is still very enjoyable.

Lagavulin Offerman Edition 11 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 19, 2021 (edited May 28, 2021)Tastes much better as the bottle gets more air. Neck pour was rather bitter, even after time. Classic Lagavulin notes here, though with more butterscotch, walnut and alcohol than the 16. Peat is more noticeable. A few drops of water open up to reveal citrus on the palate — not nearly as much as the 8, but more than the 16. Still prefer DE, then 16, then this, then the 8. When opening this one, give a few drops of water and a solid 15 mins. -
Tire fire. This is the 10 with extra oil, a touch of plastic, a longer campfire finish and milk chocolate. Tamed sweetness, vanilla. Much longer finish. Having trouble choosing between this and the 10. This is a dram to take some time with. I wanted this to be the 10 with less sweetness but it doesn’t live up to expectations. Nice whiskey. Just not enough.
