While labeled a Bourbon it seems to be wholly its own thing. Not sure if it's the pot still or something else that brings out much more malty and heavy flavors to me than other Bourbons but as primarily a Scotch or Irish drinker it's a very welcome note. If someone is a hardcore Bourbon drinker this distinct divergence in flavor profile may be a turnoff but for those Bourbon drinkers looking for something distinct and different as well as delicious this could be a good one for them to try. Price point is a plus too. Cheers!
Strong and full bodied. There is some woody aftertaste and first sip was fantastic spice and cinnamon. The flavors linger and coat the mouth. I have loved Baby Blue for years, but if I'm looking for something that stands up to my other favorite Texas bourbon, Garrison Bros, this is the one. And it's the most affordable Balcones bottle!
