Butter rich, strong blend, excellent blend

I have tried to like this. I came back to it tonight after letting it sit for a few months. It’s still just awful. It’s bitter. The finish is weak. Just tastes like Dickel in a fancy bottle. Ugh.

I felt compelled to check this in, even though I only had a sample at Total Wine. I was initially skeptical because of the rum, but I was mistaken. The rum gives it a bold sweetness upfront, but it smoothly transitions to light oak and rich red fruit. Can’t tell it’s 62% at all. Full of flavor, very complex, long, rich finish. This is a fantastic product.

Sweet Corn and toasty with a light fruit on the nose. Maple syrup with dark fruits immediately hits the tongue with a dry bitter fruityness rolling into the heat of the finish. Dry dark fruits from the cab dominate with the sweet spice of the rum and whiskey reclaiming the throne as the finish lingers. Beautiful balance of all the barrels. I love how the wine rum and whiskey work in harmony to complete this whiskey. Well done.

Love this bottle, price may not be justified though.
