Eagle Rare 17 Year Bourbon (Fall 2019)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 28, 2019 (edited March 3, 2020)Much better than the previous and great in general. The nose for me is dark caramel forward with light apples and cereal on the edges. There is a slight spice to the whiskey that's filled with dark cherries and more caramel. The finish is a rush a dark cherry and a return of the cereal to blend with the dark caramel. Love the finish and the balance of the whiskey overall. Pleased that they were able to develop a redemptive product this year. -
If your expecting a straight whiskey finished your right. If you're expecting this to taste like whiskey you're wrong. To be blunt this is great as finished whiskey, but far from good straight whiskey. A great whiskey full of dark fruits and a light nuttiness. Great for a Manhattan or someone looking to drink something heavily finished. I sub this for vermouth in Manhattans and have blended it with their rum finish to make a great cocktail.

Barrell Dovetail (122.9 Proof)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 2, 2019 (edited January 29, 2020)Sweet Corn and toasty with a light fruit on the nose. Maple syrup with dark fruits immediately hits the tongue with a dry bitter fruityness rolling into the heat of the finish. Dry dark fruits from the cab dominate with the sweet spice of the rum and whiskey reclaiming the throne as the finish lingers. Beautiful balance of all the barrels. I love how the wine rum and whiskey work in harmony to complete this whiskey. Well done.14.0 USD per PourThe Bluegrass Coffee & Bourbon Lounge -
Sagamore Spirit Cognac Finish Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Maryland, USA
Reviewed November 2, 2019 (edited October 7, 2021)Not an amazing whiskey but done fairly well. I love the port finish. This is just okay. Where the port is balanced nose to finish I feel the cognac drives this whiskey with the Rye fighting it's way on the edges. Nose is light with some spice and Andes mint chocolate and leathery fruit on the edges. The heat becomes apparent on the back. Palate is all winery/tannic fruit with a light licorice/anise and peppery Rye. The finish continues with stewed fruit then a rye and baking spices that continues into a drying long finish. The proof is evident in the first few sips but smoothens out after about 2. Opens nicely with a drop of water. The Bluegrass Coffee & Bourbon Lounge -
Besides this family having more hands in Bourbon than Jeff Bezos does my life this deserves all the awards it's gotten. Vanilla and Spices come forward with light corn towards the end. Corn and leather with a sweet vanilla come together, a slight burn towards the back quickly fades into a clean/smooth medium length finish. Hints of vanilla and carmel and grain linger. Would use in Cocktails for the price but the balance of this most definitely deserve a heavy lean toward straight or with light ice/water to open it up. Don't think this is just another whiskey. It's not.

White Walker by Johnnie Walker
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed October 20, 2019 (edited November 3, 2019)This whole dram yearns to be better but falls shorter than our expectations for the last season... Nose is sweet and malty implying a hopefully round white fruit sweet palate. Palate is still sweet but lacks depth one wishes for. You want more and hope finsh deliver. The caramel and light fruity and slight malt return but fade quicker than your hopes of Cersei dying by Jon Snows hand... Cool bottle, when drank cold more bready/malty sweetness comes out...basically the Bud of blend SM scotch. Bottle was best part. Diageo gets a 10 on marketing. Their product gets a 2.5. Well played. Awesome bottle. -
Tried it bc a friend wanted to know about it and I'll drink almost anything...Also love their beer. Mmmm malted honey nut cheerios. Light with a sweet yet spicy burn on the tongue. Definitely grainy. Not a super rough ride but the youngness is definitely present. Nice quick burn and warm finish. Short to medium length. I still like their beer more but I like how the palate and finish remind me of their ales. age it longer and I can guarantee I'd give this a 4

First things first this is not as expensive as the $$$ implies. Would expect btwn 50-60 with tax in the upper 50 states. Avg if not inexpensive for most Highlands... Sweet, rich malty nose. Surprise!!! Some fruit peeks through but the maltiness dominates. Palate is rich with caramel and fruit. Very pleasant and Approachable. Almost dessert like but not viscous or syrupy. Clean smooth sweet sugary finish...sugary implied, I just wanted to use a third s-word 🙃 Wish that Sherry came through more and had more complexity/depth. Go intro SM, would work well in Cocktails or a light body cigar.

Agreeing with the basic profile with some differences. Love the fact that its a readily available 15yr at a very reasonable price (well under 100). Great for those who want balanced age statemented whiskey in a beautiful bottle. N: Light with oak notes of vanilla and subtle orange peel towards the back P: Spicier than noted but def. Rich with vanilla and baking spices. Notes of orange towards back like the nose rolling into finish with more vanilla. F: vanilla and caramel as well as baking spice roll on through into the sunset.

Sagamore Spirit Port Finish Rye (2019 Release)
Rye — Maryland, USA
Reviewed July 14, 2019 (edited June 1, 2020)Port encompasses this dram without taking the character away from the whiskey itself. N: Rich tannic fruit notes and light spice, a sweetness tries to break through but spice prevails P: Spicy but dark fruity notes and a dry slight bitterness encroach F: port. It finishes like port. You started by drinking a whiskey with slight port notes and finished with a port with slight Rye whiskey notes. Awesome balance and transformation. Deserving of its medal. Why only 4? Bc I want, with my palate a fairly prominent whiskey note start to finish neat. It's a bias. If I got more spice with the fruit dry finish this would easily be 4.5-5.
