Barrell Dovetail (122.9 Proof)

Butter and butterscotch followed by some spices and then surprising heat.

This is definitely a fun pour, but one i have to be in the mood for. Nose is confectionery sugar, vanilla, toffee, banana, honeydew , and mint. Palate is definitely hot and all 120 plus proof shows up in the back of the tongue. Flavors of overripe banana, cinnamon, and spearmint . Good pour that somedays i enjoy more than others, but glad i have a bottle when that urge hits for banana fosters in a glass.

Outstanding complexity. It is high test, and I almost think you’re doing it a disservice not to cut it a little, or on a rock (my favorite for this one). That really brings out the flavors. Happen to have a few sips with a brownie and it was a magical pairng. Tasting notes are Vanilla, marshmellow, caramel, maple, with a peppery and minty finish.

As good as bourbon gets. The best bourbon whiskymaker i know of, creating new flavors and bottling at cask strength. Lovely minerality from the agricultural (?) rum and berry notes from the port mix with standard borbon flavors

Nose has rum and port. A bit hot on the tongue when tasting neat. Mellows with a cube of ice. Long caramel finish that lingers. Probably be better as a cocktail like Old Fashioned which will be next to try!
